Mercy Corps International Product Innovation and Partnerships Manager Careers in Kenya


Job Functions:

Pipeline Development
  • Map out viable partners and opportunities in a range of economic sectors from construction to retail and agriculture;
  • Develop a pipeline of potential partnerships, including technology partners, employers, training institutes and more, through ongoing and well thought-out outreach;
  • Maintain strong connections with the regional start-up scene, maintaining responsiveness to opportunities.

    Partner Engagement
  • Conduct Due Diligence, vet, and prepare documentation on longlisted and shortlisted partnerships;
  • Work with procurement and finance teams to ensure that suitable partnership engagement modalities are employed, be they MOUs, contracts, or other.
  • Partner Support and Relationship Management
  • Provide technical support to partners, including on market research, product development, and human-centered design;
  • Convene different actors and stakeholders for collaborations to enhance scale and sustainability;
  • As required, bring in external expertise to support partners;
  • Problem-solve and drive partnerships between multiple actors through challenges;
  • Take a collaborative and supportive approach when working with private sector partners.
    M&E and Learning
  • Work with M&E staff to ensure effective data collection and learning from partners;
  • Participate in, and generate insights, for Thought Leadership events on innovation and business solutions to youth employment.

    Other
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission;
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a combination of strategy and business consulting, impact investment, product design, or relevant areas;
  • BA/S or equivalent in business administration, information technology or related field of study.
  • An MBA is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated expertise in partnership development, facilitating deals, matchmaking and phenomenal emotional intelligence;
  • Experience in Management/Development consulting firms or business incubators / accelerators working with start-ups & SMEs on business modelling, strategy and/or product development is required;
  • Experience working in/with start-ups desired.
  • Experience related to employment generation an added advantage;
  • Experience working with impact investment an added advantage;
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement strategy;
  • Exceptional writing skills, and ability to present complex concepts and/or analysis clearly;
  • Experience in, and passion for, youth employment a plus.

    Job Functions:

    Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Develop metrics for the evaluation of the effectiveness of the program, including on the:

  • viability of the sustainable business solutions;
  • employment and livelihoods outcomes of youth users of products;
  • employers in terms of the Return on Investment of using the services and;
  • wider ecosystem.
  • Design processes of data collection, management, and quality control with partners;
  • Lead orientation of MEL systems among partner organizations;
  • Analyze quantitative data to calculate impacts, including leading ‘mini evaluations’ of specific program components and partners, including qualitative research for triangulation;
  • Produce communication materials about program progress and/or findings from evaluation studies.
    Research Projects & Thought Leadership
  • Lead the program’s research and learning initiatives, in coordination with the Program Manager and Program Director, in order to generate key learnings about the program;
  • Conduct research and prepare practical reports for dissemination based on experiences from program implementation;
  • Lead dissemination efforts, including running Thought Leadership events, working with HQ, partners, and others to reach external stakeholders.

    Knowledge and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in design and management of monitoring, evaluation and learning systems for market development programs;
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area. Masters an added advantage;
  • Experience in knowledge management, data collection, and analytics and data management;
  • Experience using Management Information Systems (MIS), including tech- or mobile-based monitoring systems and dashboards;
  • Experience working with private sector partners. Experience in Management/Development consulting firms or business incubators / accelerators working with start-ups a plus;
  • Exceptional writing skills, and strong Excel (or SPSS, STATA, RED) skills;
  • Familiarity developing and managing content for any form of media;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relevant research methodologies, and to produce high quality research products;
  • Experience in, and passion for, youth (and youth employment) programming a plus.

    Mercy Corps International Program Interns Careers in Kenya

    Location: Nairobi, Nakuru & Kisumu

    Responsibilities:

  • Support the KEVP team in drafting, reviewing and editing program reports;
  • Support with reviewing partners’ reports and supporting program partner’s whenever called upon;
  • Support the program team with drafting concepts, background papers and other background materials for the program;
  • Support the program team with planning coordinating and providing logistical support during meetings, workshops, roundtables and learning;
  • Participate and support in trainings and workshops related to KEVP;
  • Assist the program team in tracking, reporting and monitoring incidences in areas of operation by ensuring that all the tools to be used are updated;
  • Support program reporting, peer learning on key cross cutting issues within programs and keep abreast of changing political scene and its impact on the program;
  • Contribute to the development of a success stories and best practices;
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to positively acknowledge Mercy Corps and to support its humanitarian mission;

    Qualifications:

  • A recent graduate or a student in the final year of study undertaking Bachelor’s degree in conflict/peace studies preferred, or appropriate Social Science discipline, community development, or related field;
  • Ability and commitment to team work;
  • Ability to interact effectively with the diverse project stakeholders especially within the security sector and electoral bodies;
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills;
  • Knowledge of Kisumu, Nakuru and Nakuru Counties is an added advantage;
  • Good interpersonal communication skills;
  • Good knowledge and skills with the of MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint , Outlook and Access
