Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervision of Human Resource personnel in the Human Resource Department;
  • Maintenance of personnel records;
  • Management of compliment control;
  • Enforcing disciplinary procedures; and
  • Interpretation of service regulations and other personnel circulars;
  • Preparation of Monthly, quarterly and annual personnel reports;
  • Administration of staff salaries and other statutory deductions;
  • Administration of staff welfare.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Minimum Requirements for Appointment

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ or equivalent;
  • Bachelor of Commerce; Human Resource Management; Business Administration; Bachelors of Arts Degree in Social Sciences from a recognized university or its equivalent
  • Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management or its equivalent from a recognized institution; and
  • Must be Computer literate.

    Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute Chief Internal Auditor (RI.12) – (1 Position) Careers

    The Job holder will be in charge of the overall operations and programmes of an audit unit in the Institute.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible to the KMFRI Board of Management through the Board Audit Committee and the Director;
  • Developing and implementing effective risk management, internal control and corporate governance framework;
  • Ensuring maintenance of high audit standards within the unit and adherence to plans, budgets and work schedules;
  • Ensuring compliance with existing regulations, instructions and procedures in financial and other operations;
  • Verifying and pre-auditing of annual Appropriation Accounts, statement of assets and liabilities, fund accounts and annual audited statements prepared by Management for submission to the Office of the Auditor General;
  • Ensuring accountability and prudent management of resources and assets and ensuring compliance with principles and values of good governance transparency, accountability, ethics and integrity;
  • The Job holder will also be required to liaise with the Director on matters raised in reference sheets from the Office of the Auditor General, carry out investigations and head special audit tasks; and prepare annual audit reports/returns;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Minimum Requirements for Appointment

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ or equivalent;
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance option or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Certified Public Accountants (CPA) (K) or its equivalent;
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance option or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
  • A holder of Post Graduate Diploma in Internal Audit or CISA Certified Information System Auditor or CIA-Certified Internal Auditor will be an added advantage;
  • A member of a relevant professional body;
    Satisfactorily served at the position of Principal Internal Auditor for minimum of three (3) years in a public institution.
  • Have demonstrated administrative capabilities and high degree of competence in planning, conducting and supervision both financial and management audit as well as running a unit efficiently;
  • Meet the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution;

    Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute Chief Supply Chain Management Officer (RI.12) – (1 Position) Careers

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • In charge of the Supply chain management function of the Institute;
  • Interpretation and implementation of the Public Procurement and Disposal Act, 2005, the Public Procurement and Disposal Regulations 2006;
  • Preparation of procurement plans in accordance with budget process;
  • Carrying out internal monitoring and evaluation of supply chain management procedures;
  • Development of supply chain management manuals;
  • Handling and responding to internal and external audit queries;
  • Oversee the implementation of supply chain management policies, guidelines and procedures;
  • Planning and coordinating of supply chain management activities;
  • Liaison with other heads of departments;
    Secretary to the Institute’s Tender Committee;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Minimum Requirements for Appointment

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ or equivalent;
  • Bachelor of Commerce Supply Chain Management;
  • Business Administration ; Finance or its equivalent,
  • Masters of Arts Degree in any of the following:- Procurement and Supply Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or any other relevant field from a recognized Institution;
  • A Post graduate diploma in supplies management or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • A member of recognized Institute of Purchasing and Supplies;
  • Satisfactorily served at the position of Principal Supply Chain Management Officer or its equivalent for at least three (3) years;

  • Bachelor of Arts in Economics /Mathematics/Statistics from a recognized University;
  • Computer Literate;
  • Satisfactorily served at the position of Planning Officer II/Economist II or its equivalent for at least three (3) years.
