African Centre for Women, Information and Communications Technology Jobs

n July 2016, ACWICT was announced as a winner of the DREAMS Innovation Challenge, which is funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR); Janssen Pharmaceutical NV (Janssen), one of the Janssen pharmaceutical companies of Johnson & Johnson; and ViiV Healthcare. The award is managed by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc.

The innovation ‘Vusha Girls Employability Program’ will be implemented in Kisumu and Nairobi counties to reduce young women’s risks for transactional sex and HIV infections.

ACWICT therefore seeks to recruit highly committed individuals to fill the following positions:

1. Master Trainers (4 Positions) – ICT, Life skills, Entrepreneurship and Vocational Skills

Reporting to the Program Manager, the four master trainers, each in their area of expertise will be in-charge of:
  • Management of training and induction of lead trainers.
  • Provide follow up support to lead trainers.
  • Continuous review of the training curriculums.
  • Support Monitoring, evaluation aspects of training support of the project.
  • Develop training plans and preparation of training budgets in liaison with the lead trainers.
  • Facilitate in-service training for instructors / trainers teaching ICT, Life skills, Entrepreneurship and Vocational Skills.
  • Participate in job placement and provide mentorship to the beneficiaries.
  • Conducts needs assessments to develop training priorities.
  • Conduct evaluation during the training cycle/ duration.
  • Support lead trainers in coordinating and ensure reports and feedback from TVET institutions and instructors/ trainers regarding all aspects of the training component of the project.

    Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum Diploma from a recognized institution.
  • At least two years direct work experience in a similar capacity.
  • Proven experience in people and change management skills.

    2. Communications Officer
  • Develop Communication plan for the project to accomplish goals within scheduled tasks, deadlines and milestones.
  • Design, develop and implement project activity and event messages.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to build sustainability and high impact for the project.
  • Develop and review content for the Project’s online presence including the website portal and social media.
  • Develop communication material for the project update and progress reports, brochures, success stories from the from the field and media relations.
  • Work with the project implementation teams to collect, document and share success stories and human interest stories.
  • Building relationships with key media stakeholders to ensure coverage of program activities.

    Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in Communications.
  • Experience in development field communications.
  • Interpersonal communications skills.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Proficient IT skills.

    3. Jobs Placement Officer (2 Positions) Nairobi and Kisumu

    Reporting to the Program Manager, the Job Placements Officers will:
  • Conduct rapid labor market assessments in view of identifying job placement opportunities.
  • Ensure the young women trained in the program are placed in jobs, entrepreneurship, internships and apprenticeships.
  • Work with the Program Manager, county Program Officers and Master trainers to determine the labor market needs.
  • Provide mentorship and technical support to youth participants engaging online work.
  • Make regular follow-up visits, calls to employer partners and program participants placed in jobs/internships to establish progress and
    possible areas of support.
  • Work with the database management team to maintain an up-to date database of employers and participants placements details.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual work plans and reports for review by the program management team.

    Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in Human Resource or any other field.
  • Diploma in Human Resource Management.
  • Excellent Communications Skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Three years experience in a similar capacity.

    4. Program Officer (2 Positions) – Nairobi and Kisumu Counties

    Reporting to the Program Manager, the County Project Officer will manage the day to day project implementation activities in their respective counties including:
  • Developing project implementation plans and ensuring efficiency in recruitment, training and placement of young people.
  • Oversee the training activities across the county.
  • Participate in securing job and internship opportunities and job placement for the beneficiaries.
  • Conduct recruitment, selection and placement of young people and identification of employers and enterprises for the beneficiaries.
  • Provide training support to lead trainers and support the monitoring evaluation component of the project and visit interns in their workplace.
  • Regular visits to evaluate project progress in each vocational training centre.
  • Maintain regular communication with relevant team members and partners.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly and quarterly project reports activities in their respective counties for review by the Program Manager.

    Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree in a relevant field
  • Qualification in project management
  • At least three years direct work experience in a similar capacity.
  • Proven experience in people and change management skills.
  • Proficiency in IT Skills.

    5. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

    Reporting to the Program Manager, the M&E Officer will work closely with the project team in:
  • Reviewing and customizing the current M&E tools to support the Program.
  • Implementation of all M&E systems and processes for the project.
  • Conduct a baseline, mid-term and end-term project evaluation.
  • Ensure that data is collected regularly against project indicators.
  • Work with project team to implement set project monitoring and learning systems.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual project monitoring and evaluation reports for the program.
  • Regular monitoring and evaluation visits to program implementation counties and sites.
  • Work with the project implementation team to collect, document and incorporate lessons learned and success stories into project activities to achieve greater impact.

    Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree qualification.
  • Post training qualification in Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Three year experience in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ability to design and use data processing and management systems including SPSS, Epi Info, Excel.
  • Proficiency in IT Skills.
