Action Against Hunger USA Logistics Coordinator Jobs in Kampala Uganda

Objective 1:

Contribute to the definition of mission strategy

Developing a logistics strategy for the mission.

Prepare and produce logistics data and ensure that its available to other departments to facilitate the establishment of country strategy.

Producing high quality and timely logistics contribution to proposals and reports for funding bodies

Advise other departments on their logistics requirements.

Ensure that logistical needs and constraints are taken into account in the preparation of projects.

Represent the mission to outside bodies for logistical matters and develop a network for the exchange of information and good practice.

Objective 2:

Coordinate logistics at national level

Provide leadership and optimizing the organization of logistics at mission level
Lay down logistical standard across the mission, in accordance with Action Against Hunger guidelines

Supervise the implementation of a supply strategy and sanctioning its stages
Supervise the management of all Action Against Hunger equipment.

Control and monitor the mission logistics budget and ensure its implemented according to plan.

Ensure Procurement projects plan are produced and updated for each project
Monitor and analyze logistics reports from the bases and provide appropriate recommendations.

Prevent and manage fraud and corruption.

Manage the implementation of an archiving system conforming to Action Against Hunger logistics guidelines

Objective 3:

Support implementation of human resource functions of the mission

Coordination, training, support of the logistic staff for the bases and direct supervision for the capital

Forecast HR logistic needs in collaboration with other departments

Ensure sound management at all level with clear level of authority and responsibility well defined in the job description and chart

Promote performance management by ensuring that clear objectives are set by all managers and that objectives are reviewed through constructive feedback and appraisals and training plan

Objective 4:

Management of the security

Collect information at mission level and with various stakeholders, conduct security assessment in all field locations on a regular basis

Propose revision of the national and local security plan in collaboration with field managers and Country director

Build capacity of safety managers in the mission

Contribute to the building of security culture in the mission and ensure all safety and security procedures are in place

Support Country director in the crisis and incident management

Academic Qualification

Advanced university degree in Logistics, procurement and supply chain, business or other

related field.

At least 5 years of professional experience in a similar role, preferably international experience.

Knowledge skills and abilities

Proven management and coordination skills

Fluent in English

Knowledge of donors’ guidelines and procedures

Good interpersonal and coaching skills

Well-organized, able to multitask and rigorous

Good negotiation skills

Professional computer skills; MS Word, Excel, internet, and email is required.

Ability to communicate and perform within an international and multicultural team.
