World Vision NGO Kenya National Coordinator - Building & Construction Jobs

Responsibilities

  • Available guidelines for implementation of building and construction activities in the program areas and in use;
  • All building and construction works initiatives within the WVK’s area of influence meet or exceed planned outcomes and are implemented in full compliance with GOK, SPHERE and other relevant partnership and international standards and structural engineering guidelines;
  • Review designs for all Building and Construction projects including drawings, bills of quantities and necessary documentation for works contracts above KES 3,000,000 for the Regions. Provide technical support in analysis of tender documents.
  • Provide technical support to Communication and DME in documentation of initiative and in review of DME reports.
  • In collaboration with M&E specialist, develop, monitor and evaluate structural project indicators and standards for use by Regions and IPAs;
  • Collaborate with Ministry of Public Works and other relevant departments in providing technical support and assistance to all Structural interventions;
  • Documentation and dissemination of best practices on completed structural initiatives and projects;
  • Participate in structural engineering intervention coordination and other related meetings as may be required;
  • Support P&C establish, coordinate and/or consolidate the necessary systems, procedures and support services (including but not limited to recruiting, staffing, training, supervision, performance monitoring, procurement and administration) required to achieve or surpass performance targets;
  • Support the establishment and consolidate a working culture - based upon results based management principals - that consistently achieves and/or surpasses established targets and standards;

    Qualifications

  • The holder of this position must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in a relevant field from a recognized University preferably in Civil Engineering or Building & Construction;
  • They must have a minimum of 5 years experience with regard to the designing, planning, implementation, supervising and reporting on integrated development works in building and construction;
  • The holder must have a wide experience in constructions and contracts management;
  • They should have at least 3 years experience as a manager or senior leadership position;
  • The holder of this position must be a results orientated leader who can handle a heavy work load as well as manage and satisfy multiple and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands and;
  • He /she must also have ample experience in public relations and be a strong team player.
  • Knowledge and application of auto/arch CAD and GIS will be an advantage.

    World Vision NGO Kenya Technical Specialist - Cash / Food for Assets Jobs

    Responsibilities

  • Participate in the identification of clear boundaries of the watershed
  • Take lead in the development of viable project proposals for the implementation of the identified projects and develop an actionable work plan for implementation of the C/FFA activities in the sub counties.
  • Liaise with the Livelihoods team in the development of project designs in line with the WVK strategic objective
  • Present the project designs and proposals for approval through the relevant structures
  • Supervise the implementation of C/FFA projects and ensure the projects meet the technical standards.
  • Monitor and manage performance to field monitors throughout
    the project cycle
  • Ensure that all commodities/cash are properly accounted for and bring to the attention of the Project Manager any discrepancies in accounting.
  • Ensure that distribution plans are prepared and approved in advance to enhance efficient field operations.
  • Ensure that damaged/unfit commodities are kept separately at the FDPs. Arrange for the disposal of all commodities unfit for human consumption upon receipt of the necessary authorization.
  • Ensure that Last Mile Mobile Solution (LMMS) system is implemented, utilized and monitored.
  • Ensure that commodities/ Cash are received by the targeted beneficiaries. Spot-check FDP stores to ensure they are properly maintained and all equipment functioning properly

    Qualifications

  • A degree in agriculture engineering/soil science, Water and environmental management/natural resources management or related
  • At least three years’ experience in relevant field
  • Proven experience of working with rural communities and participatory planning
  • Good understanding of dry land farming (crops and livestock)
  • Good understanding of community mobilization and participatory methods
  • Mature and confident to deal with Government authorities at all levels, communities and community leaders
  • Able to build strong relationships and partnerships with Government Agencies, private partners, community leaders and other stakeholders

    Qualifications

  • Exceptional relationship and influencing skills.
  • Exceptional intellectual ability - a clear strategic marketing thinker.
  • Significant experience in leading change in a complex environment.
  • 10-15 years in marketing, fundraising or related role, including 5-7 years at a senior management level with demonstrable success in achieving growth with experience in channel sales/fundraising and experience in partnership development (e.g. developing mutually value-added partnerships). Experience in developing partnerships with faith-based organizations (churches) a plus.
  • Ideally minimum 5 years of experience leading a marketing function within one of the largest World Vision Support offices and / or Minimum 7 years of experience leading a marketing function within a global organization.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in strategy or marketing.
  • The post-holder must have an active Christian faith.
  • Strong marketing and strategy skills with working knowledge of change management principles.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and able to win the confidence of a broad range of different stakeholders including leaders from a variety of cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide, edit and assure clear, brief and compelling written and visual communications. Ability to synthesize complex concepts for a wide variety of audiences.
