Village Enterprise seeks a dynamic and passionate individual to manage innovations

projects portfolio within the graduation model space.

The position holder key areas
of involvement include; developing creative and innovative ideas centered on our
Graduation Program; help in development of pilots by applying the key stages of
Human Centered Design Thinking; capacity training for Business Mentors and Field
Coordinators, research and development of tools and strategies that ensure the
organization meets its goals.


Village Enterprise is seeking a candidate who is a creative leader, strategic thinker,
innovative and solution oriented to help drive the Innovations Team activities and objectives.

Job Description

Innovations Team Management: (70%)

  • Be a key in building, leading, and managing a dynamic team committed to ending extreme poverty
  • Manage work plans and projects with close reference with the Director of Innovations.
  • Help in coordinating Innovations Team Meetings, setting agendas, action items and reporting needs
  • Manage Program Coordinators as needed for specific projects
  • Help design and manage work schedules for Program coordinators.
  • As needed contribute to proposal development by keeping track of funding
    opportunities for the innovations teamwork and pass such opportunities to direct supervisor.

    Innovations Program Manager

  • Assist in the development, assessment of standard operating tools like the Business Development Kit, Mentoring Guides and any other latest introductions.
  • Play a key role in Management of pilot projects for the Village Enterprise program
  • Assist the Director of Innovation in developing systems to assess, plan, monitor and track pilots, new modules, and research
  • Oversee and increase the quality and efficiency of the program and specialized interventions.
  • Develop and maintain system for tracking innovations, changes to the program and documentation (including items implemented and those that are deemed not successful)
  • Create and manage reporting for pilots, including internal and external reporting
  • Coordinate with the Director of Innovations and Innovations team members to identify high-priority projects and placement within the project pipeline.
  • Train and capacity build Field Coordinators and Business Mentors in new concepts as needed
  • Help in designing and managing M&E Plans with input from M&E team for approval from Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Director
  • Graduation Approach/Innovations Research
  • Lead some research of industry needs and opportunities to leverage the expertise of the Innovations Team
  • Research other innovations that have worked for other organizations, and improvement of the standard operating tools like the business
    development kit and mentoring guides.
  • Systems Development for innovations
  • Improve upon and formalize systems for core program pilot design and implementation
  • Document and improve current systems for pilot design and management including designing, researching, test, and deploy project management software
  • Contribute to knowledge management of Village Enterprise by systematizing processes that allow the organization
    to learn from past
    pilots

    Innovation Summit Management: 10%

  • Collaborate and Assist with conducting the Annual Innovations Summit
  • Lead summit support staff in organizing week-long event
  • Manage all staff to organize topics and sessions for the summit
  • Support in reviewing presentations and other materials for use during summits and other Innovations Team related events as needed
  • Help develop schedule, events and capacity building activities as needed
  • Co-manage Summit implementation with Innovations Director and the Innovations Team.

    Reporting& Communication: 15%

  • Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as needed and upon request.
  • Identify tools, resources, and best practices to help improve the program.
  • Manage and Review presentations and other materials for use during summits and other meetings.
  • Manage relationships with partners in collaboration with the director to maintain clear communication, smooth operations and strong working relationships.
  • Contribute to Village Enterprise as a thought-leader by serving as a Village
    Enterprise representative at meetings/conferences

    Administration: 5%

  • Provide management oversight and leadership, in close cooperation with the
    Innovations Director and other SMT such as the COO, Country Directors, Assistant Country Directors and field management staff, in Kenya and Uganda.
  • Monitor and Report on staff performance to ensure that they deliver a high quality program; provide annual reviews to Coordinator that include a written performance appraisal, and ensure that objectives are identified in these reviews are achieved in a timely manner
  • Participate and contribute to mid-management meeting
  • Assist in general operations as needed

    The ideal candidate should have:

  • The educational background that has created a base of understanding what is applicable in this role.
  • This will be a combination of university level degree preferably in Project Management/Agronomy/Community Development or Business Administration and Management. They should also have demonstrated performance in the areas of design and testing program improvements and modifications.
  • Experience working in the Livelihoods development field, Value chains development,
    Market systems analysis, Market intelligence and linkages or rural micro-finance is a
    plus.
  • Experience working with youth and/or refugees is an asset.
