The Project: The USAID-funded PMI AIRS (Africa Indoor Residual Spraying 2) Project led by Abt Associates supports the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), as well as USAID Missions and Bureaus with malaria programs outside the PMI focus countries, in planning and implementing IRS programs with the overall goal of reducing the burden of malaria in Africa by enhancing USAID’s ability to implement IRS programs on the ground through cost-effective commodities procurement and logistics systems, access to technical expertise, and implementation of IRS in countries affected by malaria.


The PMI AIRS Project is led by Abt Associates, an international development organization composed of dedicated professionals who provide technical assistance, research, analysis, and practical training services in more than 128 countries.

4. Payroll Officer Job in Migori County, Kenya - USAID PMI AIRS Project

The PMI AIRS Kenya Project seeks candidates for the USAID - funded PMI AIRS (Africa Indoor Residual Spraying 2) Project to be implemented in six sub counties (Rongo, Awendo, Uriri, Suna East, Suna West and Nyatike) in Migori, Kenya in the following positions:

Supervisor: Finance and Administration Manager

Location: Migori County, Kenya

Major purpose of the position: The major purpose is to support the Country Finance Manager and Project Accountant in collecting the required information from county sites for processing timely payment of county spraying staff and preparing the payment schedule.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing a database of all field staff involved in the district spraying
  • Compile team member payroll data and other records to ensure the timely and accurate disbursement of payments; calculate wages, and pay adjustments in payroll process.
  • Ensuring that the daily work logs are completed and submitted by team leaders and supervisors.
  • Obtains and maintains personal information from all county spray teams which is used in administering their pay e.g. ID number, telephone numbers etc.
  • Assist in review of the financial data from field stations by verifying the accuracy of information/support documentations and reasonableness of costs.
  • Organize the financial document filing system for the counties.
  • Provide high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders of the organization
  • Maintain strict confidentiality as it relates to all information.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

    Required minimum qualifications, skills and abilities
  • Completion of secondary education. Post-secondary qualification at diploma level in a financial administrative or related field required.
  • Holders of Bachelor’s degrees and CPA K preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in finance, budget, accounting, administrative services or related area with 1 year experience in the same capacity supporting a donor funded project with strict adherence to financial management policies and procedures.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must be computer literate and well conversant of Excel and Ms Word
  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to use spreadsheets and other accounting software

    The PMI AIRS Kenya Project seeks candidates for the USAID - funded PMI AIRS (Africa Indoor Residual Spraying 2) Project to be implemented in six sub counties (Rongo, Awendo, Uriri, Suna East, Suna West and Nyatike) in Migori, Kenya in the following positions:

  • Obtains and maintains personal information from all county spray teams which is used in administering their pay e.g. ID number, telephone numbers etc.

  • Assist in verifying and processing of payments

    Required minimum qualifications, skills and abilities
  • Training in accounting/finance or its equivalent preferably CPA (K)
  • Additional 1 year experience working as an account clerk in a busy professional environment
  • At least two (2) years of professional experience in Accounting and Program Financial Management.
  • Experience working at international development programs, with experience at USAID-funded programs highly desirable.
  • Experience in inventory management is desirable.
  • A self-starter that is able to perform under pressure is preferred.
  • A strong command of financial and other computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, Quicken, Access, etc.
  • English language capability.

    6. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistants Jobs in Migori County, Kenya - USAID PMI AIRS Project

    The PMI AIRS Kenya Project seeks candidates for the USAID - funded PMI AIRS (Africa Indoor Residual Spraying 2) Project to be implemented in six sub counties (Rongo, Awendo, Uriri, Suna East, Suna West and Nyatike) in Migori, Kenya in the following positions:

    Supervisor: County Coordinator

    Location: Migori County, Kenya

    No. Required: 6

    Overall Purpose: To manage efficient data entry and data base support services to AIRS County project in co-ordination with the County Coordinator and AIRS Kenya project M&E Manager. S/He will ensure proper data entry and filing system for IRS and other epidemiological data collected in the field.

    Specific Responsibilities:
  • Plan and organize daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly projections for data management needs.
  • Verifying data and ensuring entries are correct daily.
  • Ensure that data from the field captures defined variables.
  • Coordinates with the County coordinator in ensuring that required data is timely uploaded to the database and sent to project country M&E Manager.
  • Ensure timely reporting on IRS related coverage situations.
  • Backing up the database-Daily.

    Required qualifications and experience:
  • Vocational training specifically in IT related area possibly degree level
  • 1 year experience desirable in data entry and supervision of data teams
  • Additional professional training in date entry preferred.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Willingness and flexibility to work long and unsociable hours
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
  • Knowledge of USAID procurement policies and regulations a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and database software;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented setting;
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large amount of information.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to diverse audiences.
