Academic/Professional Requirements

Must be a Senior Lecturer

Must have an earned Ph.D. degree or its equivalent in the relevant field from a recognized academic institution.

Must have at least three (3) years’ experience of university teaching at the level of a Lecturer.

Must have at least four articles in refereed journals since becoming a Lecturer. OR at least one refereed book in candidate’s professional area published by recognized publishers, plus two articles. OR at least distinguished
exhibition, performances or original creation, plus one article in a refereed journal since becoming a lecturer.

Should show evidence of supervision of postgraduate students.

Should have attended and contributed at learned conferences, seminars and workshops.

Should have evidence of affiliation with recognized and relevant professional bodies.

Should have evidence of contribution to University life through active participation in Departmental and School matters or meetings, student academic advising and committee membership.

Academic/Professional Requirements

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have:

Served as a Senior Students Counsellor for at least 5 years with exemplary work performance

A P.hD in the relevant field

Be Computer literate
OR

Masters degree in Business Administration / Counseling/ Psychology/Communications or equivalent.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in administration position in an Institution of Higher Learning/ Corporate World.

Excellent communication and demonstrated decision making skills.

Must be computer literate and proficient in standard office software applications

Must demonstrate proven work ethics that meet deadlines, leadership skills, good interpersonal skills and a team player.

Background knowledge on Islam will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

Overall in-charge of Students Welfare Department

Prepare strategic plan

Responsible for preparation, development, reviewing and monitoring comprehensive counseling plan

Analyzing and taking appropriate action on the reports from the questionnaire from students

Responsible for the maintenance of accurate records of counseling services

Responsible for recommending to the university Management those students who may need assistance

Responsible for work study programme

Supervise staff under him/her

Responsible for making departmental budget

Any other duties assigned by immediate supervisor
