An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Tearfund's team in South Sudan. This is a critical role in a challenging and fast paced environment, working with a fantastic team of professionals committed to serve those the most vulnerable in one of the most difficult humanitarian contexts in the world.

We are looking for an experienced, energetic and committed logistics manager to provide strategic Logistics management and support to our operational and partnership work in South Sudan.

Currently our programme encompasses both humanitarian (emergency) and recovery response - WASH, Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods as well as support of church-led community development projects in partnership with local faith based organisations (NGOs and Churches).

The budget currently ranges between £4m - 5m per annum funded from a range of institutional donors, with a multi cultural team of about 200 national and international staff.

Reporting to the Head of Support Services, the Logistics Manager manages the logistics staff in the programme head office in Juba, as well as having oversight responsibility for the logistics functions in the field sites.

Key responsibilities include supply chain, asset management, transport, communications,
estate management and procurement, IT and ensuring that Tearfund and Donor policies and procedures are complied with.

The successful incumbent will offer timely, accurate and professional procurement and logistics support to programmes, including relevant input into donor proposals. As part of the Senior Management Team in country they will also coordinate with the Logistics Cluster South Sudan and work closely with the International Logistics Team and Programme Officer based in Nairobi and in the UK.

The successful applicant will have had a minimum two years experience in Logistics Management in an INGO in a complex, insecure environment. Ideally they will have a technical qualification. Experience of the management of technical equipment, and experience managing staff would also be necessary.

The successful applicant will have the ability to manage and prioritise their own workload, work to strict time-frames and deal with complex issues. In addition they will possess cross-cultural skills, strong written and communication skills and the ability to relate well to people.

The role requires frequent travel to field sites, and will involve training and development of national staff in the Logs function. Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
