Stromme Foundation (SF) is a non-profit international organisation with headquarters based in Kristiansand Norway since 1976 and has been involved in development programmes in East Africa, West Africa and Asia. In the East African region, operations officially started in 1994 with the regional office based in Kampala.

Our programs are being implemented through Partner Organisations across specific regions in Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan and Kenya and are focused on three thematic goals, namely;

    About the Regional Business Development and Communications Unit:

    The Unit has been established to identify and build regional level strategic partnerships, strengthen strategic regional relationships with donors, media, civil society and private sector partners.

    The team is responsible for the pursuit of multi-country/regional funding opportunities, defining and executing a regional resource mobilization strategy and support country & partners funding opportunities. The team roles include both internal and external communication.

    The BDC Intern

    The Business Development and Communication Intern will be required to support the execution of the organisation’s business development and communications priorities in line with Stromme Foundations’ thematic goals. Main responsibilities include:

    Communications and Media Relations

  • Working with the RBDC Manager, support the compilation and production of Influencing materials such as SFEA Country Profiles, SFEA Programs Leaflets, Partner profiles etc in collaboration with RPDI team, PMEAL and Donor Liaison Officer
  • Media research, monitoring & reporting and compiling strategic media lists to be used for SF media influencing.
  • Coordinate our Communications Resource Team with SFEA partners to build content (stories, videos, pictures) for onward sharing online and in the media.
  • Follow up on production of SFEA branding and publicity materials.
  • Coordinate the logistics for successful media briefings with key press editors.
  • Work with the BDC team to manage and update all our web and social media pages
  • Provide timely, high quality media
    support during key visits, events, functions etc. (working closely with PDI team, country resources and lead KRS)
  • Support Communications Office in bi-monthly communications updates to be shared with staff in newsletter format and on the intranet.
  • Resource Mobilization

  • Research to identify key private organisations for CSRs opportunities and in line with our thematic goals and contact persons for each.
  • Together with the RBDC manager, schedule for meetings with identified private sector companies.
  • Donor Relations and Services

  • Coordinate logistics in preparation for Norwegian visitors, school teams and donors in the region so that they are well facilitated including their program visits with our partners.
  • Support the DLO in orienting and debriefing the SF visiting donor schools in the region
  • Support the DLO in the compilation of donor information and updates required by SF KRS.

    Other administrative duties

  • Assist the team with communications administrative tasks as will be required.
  • Event coordination for key events to be hosted by SF.

    Special Requirements

  • Designed for Graduates pursuing a career in Development communications, Resource Mobilisation, Marketing, journalism and media.
  • We are looking for a passionate, vibrant, energetic, motivated individual who will work with all team members to accomplish collective and individual goals.
  • Excellent communications and written skills, proficient in Microsoft Office applications.,
  • An eye for detail and a relatively good creative mind.
  • Skills in photography and making short clips.
  • Experience with any PR is a plus.
    Knowledgeable or experience with Resource Mobilisation is a plus.
  • Flexibility and ability to travel within the region
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
