State Corporation Officers (IT Help Desk) in the ICT Department Jobs in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Providing help-desk support and resolve problems to the end user’s satisfaction as escalate problem (when required) to the appropriately experienced technician.
  • Monitoring and responding quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT help-desk.
  • Monitoring Service Desk for tickets assigned to the queue and process first-in first-out based on priority. Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for the local workstation.
    Utilizing and maintaining the helpdesk tracking software.
  • Documenting all pertinent end user identification information, including name, department, contact information, and nature of problem or issue.
  • Assisting with setting up new users accounts and profiles and dealing with password problems.
  • Ensuring each workstation has a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drive, and any additional specialized equipment.
  • Applying diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Testing fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved.
  • Performing post-resolution follow-ups to help requests.
  • Evaluating documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems.
  • Developing help sheets and frequently asked questions lists for end users.
  • Performing hands-on fixes at the desktop level including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Installing, testing and configuring new workstations, peripheral equipment and software.
  • Maintaining inventory of all equipment, software and software licenses.
  • Managing PC setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware, images and software. Assign users and computers to proper groups in Active Directory.
  • Providing updates, status, and completion information to management.
  • Accessing software updates, drivers, knowledge bases and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
  • Performing timely software upgrades as required.
  • Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment.

    Qualifications

  • At least two (2) years help desk experience supporting Windows Server 2008, 2012, Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems and MS Applications (Office, Outlook etc.)
  • BS/BA computer degree or Technical degree in related discipline.
  • MCSA certification a plus.
  • Relevant Helpdesk certification a plus.
  • CompTIA A+ Computer troubleshooting certification.
  • Compliance with Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • The Database Administrator officer’s role is to design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases their accompanying software.
  • Ensuring selection, installation, qualification, testing and validation of enterprise database systems and applications.
  • Responsible for documenting all database installations and configurations.
  • Designing and developing databases, database users and database security and other database objects including stored procedures.
  • Responsible for creating and scheduling backups and database jobs.
  • Responsible for monitoring the status of scheduled backups and database jobs.
  • Responsible for database security and the analysis and application of database patches and upgrades to database servers and components.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for database administration including backup, restoration, administration and disaster recovery.
  • Administering all database objects, including tablets, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures.
  • Troubleshooting problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools.
  • Creating new database users as required and manage sharing of resources amongst applications.
  • Preparing users by conducting training; providing information;
    resolving problems.
  • Performing capacity planning that requires creating and maintaining the databases while working closely with system administrators.
  • Enforcing and maintaining database constraints to ensure integrity of the database through constant communication with technical and operational staff.
  • Managing vendor support contracts for hardware, software services.
  • Liaising with user departments for any data requirements and their specifications.
  • Assessing and developing long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers.

    Qualifications

  • At least two (2) years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques.
  • Relevant professional database certification.
  • Compliance with Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya

    State Corporation Assistance Manager – Infrastructure – ICT Jobs in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Head of Infrastructure unit which is made up of inter alia Data Base, Server and Network Administration sub units
  • Manage LAN and WAN and all heir components
    Manage servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Manage all network and server hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of servers, end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Ensure network connectivity of all servers and workstations.
  • Administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for servers and network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.

    Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of LAN and WAN topologies and architecture, including Multi VLAN architecture.
  • knowledge of network equipment such as switches, routers and associated equipment and how to construct and maintain networks.
  • Understands, installs and configures network equipment utilizing varied protocols such as: TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, Microsoft protocols and NMS.
  • Must have a working experience with network operating systems such as windows server, Linux (Centos) and Cisco
  • Must have a working knowledge and experience in Virtualization software(VMware)
  • Must have a working knowledge of IP Telephony and QOS service implementation for network-based phone systems.
  • Working knowledge PC hardware and components including processors, mother boards, accessories, cards, peripherals.
  • Ability to train users on network concepts and methodologies as well as specific application utilization and configuration.
  • Ability to interface with technical and engineering personnel in order to discuss technical issues pertaining to problems, purchases or technical specifications.
