Sholarship Conditions

by Susan Ayumo
(Kampala, Uganda)

I am really grateful for the invitation.
My concern is that I have on several occasions come across scholarships that I felt I was really suitable for only to see that the deadline has expired. Is it not possible to scrutinise these scholarships so that we can look through them and submit in our requests before the expiry?

The second issue is that some scholarships come in and they are good but with lots of conditions for instance, you should have been admitted at a particular university, yet they are really good, it has locked me out on several occasions.

Many scholarships are offered every year. By running scholarships with a December deadline in March, we hope that applicants will be able to beat the next deadline in December and have opportunity to meet the many conditions.

For scholarships that are run close to the application deadline, many students are still able to apply for these by reading through the website and not just waiting for the newsletter.

We can do nothing about the conditions. It is up to the sponsoring agency to put as many conditions as they can and hopefully get the candidates they want.

Try to meet the conditions and not to complain about them!

Joe.
