  • Our client, a premier credit only micro finance institution with operations in Kenya, Uganda and Liberia seeks to hire a Sales Manager – Logbook & Salary Check-off Loans.

  • He/she will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution and coordination of business development while coordinating and managing sales teams to achieve set sales targets.

  • They will be responsible for the day-to-day performance of the sales team and will be required to drive growth in the number and value of loans disbursed, revenue growth and collection of loans.

  • In addition, he/she will also be responsible for actively reviewing the company’s product offerings and customer onboarding experience to ensure that the organization remains competitive and aligned to customer needs.

    Key Responsibilities (KR) and Duties (D)

    KR 1: Sales and Business Growth

  • Play an active role in the development of the company’s sales and business growth strategy.

  • Oversee the execution of the agreed sales and business growth strategy.

  • Client pipelining

    KR 2. Overseeing Sales Team Competency Assessment and Training Interventions

  • Ensure continuous and thorough training of sales officers for them to master the product

  • Motivating, mentoring and ensuring high energy levels of the team members.

  • Develop relevant sales materials and tools to ensure that the company is able to effectively acquire new business.

  • Pitch and win new employers to sign MOUs

  • Ensure all loans sold are properly applied for and all requirements met by the applicants before presenting to credit teams for approval.

    KR 3. Product Knowledge, Development and Innovation

  • Have a thorough understanding of the organizations products and services and the

  • Supporting policies and processes.

  • Ensure all loans sold are properly applied for and all requirements met by the applicants before presenting to Credit teams for approvals.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape of the organizations direct competitors, their price points and product features.

  • Actively review existing products and services to ensure they remain highly competitive and differentiated while also making recommendations on new products and services based on changing customer and market trends.

  • Be able to articulate each products core value proposition to the customer both verbally and in
    writing.

    KR4: Policy Formulation, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of Client Portfolio

  • Undertakes monitoring and evaluation and prepare periodic reports.

  • Coordinate loan recovery measures to limit risk.

  • Actively engage with the Company’s customer service teams to ensure that the overall customer experience is positive and that that the organization meets all its brand promises to its customers – quick, no hassle loans!

    KR 5: Team Management and Performance Management

  • Conduct weekly and daily sales meetings and briefs to ensure all sales resources remain
    engaged and focused on achieving sales objectives

  • Handle the performance management; supervision and development of sales staff.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • University Degree – in a business or marketing field

  • Post-graduate diploma or professional qualification an added advantage

  • At least 4 years’ experience working in a senior sales role in a microfinance or credit only organization or bank, with a clear track record of successfully meeting challenging sales targets.

  • Good background in credit operations and portfolio management.

  • Be a team player who is able to develop strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Possess/demonstrate project and process management skills

  • Be a result oriented relationship builder with an exceptional entrepreneurial spirit and capacity to work under pressure without supervision in a tough and competitive environment so as to grow a collectable portfolio.

  • Knowledge of credit processes.

  • Leadership skills for teams.

  • Analytical and critical thinker.

  • Possess excellent organization, mobilization, interpersonal and influencing skills.
