PROLINNOVA Kenya (PK) National Coordinator Job Vacancy


PROLINNOVA Kenya (PK) is a multi-stakeholder platform through which farmers, researchers, development organizations, entrepreneurs and policy makers share experiences and lessons to promote and sustain local innovation.

The overall goal of PK is to facilitate the recognition and the capacity of farmers to innovate in agriculture, natural resources and environmental management for sustainable livelihoods and food security and to safeguard the environment.

PK seeks to recruit a suitably qualified candidate for the position of National Coordinator.

Applications are invited from candidates who are innovative, performance driven and with a good track record in working with or coordinating multi-stakeholder platforms.

Duration of work: Part-time (hours/week to be discussed) commencing 1 March 2017. The initial contract will be for a 6-month probation period.

Key responsibilities
  • Coordination and implementation of PK activities according to the work plan
  • Documentation, sharing and dissemination of platform experiences, outputs/results, outcomes and impacts
  • Preparation of reports to be submitted to the NSC, international secretariat and donors in a timely manner
  • Lead the process of resource mobilization through development of funding proposals and establishing strategic linkages with development partners.
  • Managing the PK office – Maintaining office and inventory of PK assets, supervise hired PK staff, develop and up-date workplace policies etc.

    Knowledge, skills and attributes
    • Minimum of first degree in a relevant
    field and preferably in Agriculture, Natural resource management, Economics or Social sciences.
  • A Masters degree will be an added advantage
    • 3 to 4 years' experience working in a multi-stakeholder environment
    • Experience working with small holder farmers
    • Experience in resource mobilization
    • Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
    • Excellent communication skills; both written and oral
    • Ability to meet deadlines
    • A team player with good networking skills
    • Ability to work with minimum supervision
    • Must be computer literate - Good MS Office, MS Excel, Internet, email and social media skills
    • Knowledge of innovation systems and/or knowledge systems will be an added advantage
