Plan International Project Manager Girls Advocacy Alliance Jobs in Kenya


Responsibilities

Technical quality assurance to project development and implementation (25%)
  • Participate in the development the project description of the Girls Advocacy Alliance GAA
  • Project and other economic empowerment projects.
  • Ensure the application of the project description by providing technical inputs into concept notes and project proposal development process, develop relevant internal technical guidelines/ manuals for project implementation.
  • Participate in technical reviews and proposal for grants proposals when required.
  • Visit project sites regularly to monitor the technical aspect of project implementation and provide technical guidance/support needed to project officers and partners.
  • Ensure technical quality aspect of the economic empowerment and advocacy consultancy works.
  • Provide timely technical project narrative and financial reports.
  • Budget management; monitor expenditure against approved budget and revisit plans to ensure budget performance is in-line with regulations as well as expected deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and regulations.
  • Support the project team and ensure effective people management ensuring welfare, contract, compliance, and performance appraisal.
  • Smooth/efficient project performance and effective management of and communication with project team.

    Oversee & Coordinate Project Implementation (30%)
  • Oversee any contractual partner deliverables to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Serve as the main point of communication for implementing partners in the project.
  • Ensure that interventions are planned and implemented for maximum impact, synergy and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with established targets and quality of project outputs.
  • Ensure proper management of project database, records, and files.
  • Propose strategy for economic empowerment capacity building for staffs of Plan Kenya and economic empowerment partners.
  • Provide technical advice and expertise to the economic empowerment project team, including building technical capacity for the team.
  • Provide support to other parts of Plan Kenya Economic Empowerment projects where appropriate.

    Knowledge, Skills, Behaviours, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:

    Academic Qualifications and experience
  • University degree in Social Sciences; community development; gender or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate qualification in the same area is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in project management with an INGO preferably in economic empowerment and advocacy, and at least 3 of those in a management position.
  • Experience in results-based, gender and rights-based programming.
  • Experiences in partnership development.

    Plan International Senior Project Manager Jobs in Kenya

    Responsibilities

    Program Leadership and Financial Management
  • Lead high quality, results-oriented program planning, implementation and reporting in compliance with donor, government and partnership agreements.
  • Design and oversee an annual program cycle and budget for the project in accordance with donor’s annual planning cycle and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee staff and partner work plans, deliverables and compliance requirements.
  • Create management systems and processes consistent with program needs.
  • Coordinate efficient procurement of project supplies and services with finance, program and procurement colleagues.
  • Ensure that local laws and operational policies and protocols, including for security, are observed and respected.
  • Serve as primary liaison with Plan International Canada on administrative, programmatic, financial and technical matters.

    Academic Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in an interdisciplinary area such as International Development, Strategic Planning, Program Management, etc. or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years of demonstrable experience in managing government and bilateral donor funded grants.
  • Progressive experience working for INGOs in increasingly senior positions (Chief of Party/Program Director level strongly preferred), ideally in Kenya.
  • Previous management of projects with budgets of $10 million or higher, and with multiple partners (including government and
    civil society).
  • Experience managing complex and multi-thematic programs, specifically in areas of education and child protection.
  • Track record of achieving programmatic results and impact.
  • Strong understanding of gender responsive programming and meaningful child participation in programs.
  • Knowledge of development challenges and context in Kenya, in particular of education and child protection systems.
  • Remote management of project staff.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively without the need for close supervision.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person and with remote teams.
  • Familiarity with Global Affairs Canada (GAC) guidelines and requirements.
  • Experience in child-centered programming.
  • Fluent in both English and Swahili.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office, database, internet etc.

    The Opportunity

  • As part of our transformation we are recruiting for a Learning and Development Advisor to contribute to building individual, organisational and partner capability and knowledge to meet current and strategic requirements and create a learning culture to embed capability development.
  • You will support key business areas across the region including learning needs analysis, recommendations of solutions, monitoring and evaluation and continuous improvement for transition countries in line with the new global strategy.

  • Fluency in English and French/ Spanish (according to local context) is essential.
