PCEA Chogoria Hospital was established in 1922 and serves as a referral and teaching Hospital.

It has a 295 bed capacity that focuses on the provision of Curative, Preventive and Promotive Health Care services in Tharaka Nithi County and the greater Meru, Embu and as far as Isiolo and Marsabit Counties.

We are seeking to fill the following position:

Head of Clinical Medicine Program

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Head of Clinical Medicine Program’s main task will be to coordinate Clinical Medicine training in accordance to the requirements of the Clinical Officers Council

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead in developing systems and structures for the programme in accordance with Clinical Officers Council guidelines
  • Lead in developing a learning curriculum in the faculty of clinical medicine
  • Assist in developing manpower for the course.

    Required Minimum Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine & Community Health or Higher Diploma in Reproductive Health with three years working experience
  • Must be registered by the Clinical Officers Council and possess a valid practicing license
  • At least 3 years' experience working as a Registered Clinical Officer
  • Teaching experience of at least two years.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Must be a mature practicing Christian

    Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer through the Pharmacy in Charge, the Pharmacy Technologist’s main task will be to be to deliver efficient and timely Pharmacy services.

    Duties & Responsibilities
  • Scrutinizes Patient Treatment Sheets and Prescriptions for suitability of prescribed drugs in relation to dosing accuracy, drug interaction and route of administration
  • Provide drug information to patients, doctors, nurses and other medical staff.
  • Timely and accurate posting dispensed drugs for billing purposes.
  • Assist the Pharmacy in-charge in placing orders for stock replenishment to the Pharmacy Store to maintain optimal stock levels
  • Participates in regular drug expiry monitoring in the pharmacy to identify and document items with expiry of less than the required.
  • Compounding, re-packaging and dilutions of drugs according to laid down guidelines.
  • Counsel patients appropriately to ensure adherence to drug therapy.

    Required Minimum Qualifications and Skills
  • A diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from recognized institution.
  • Must be registered by Pharmacy & Poison's Board and possess a valid practicing license.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Must be a mature practicing Christian
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience will be an added advantage

    3. PCEA Chogoria Hospital Lead Clinician (Comprehensive Care Clinic) Job in Kenya

    Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, the Lead Clinician’s main responsibility will be to lead the team at the clinic in discharging clinical services to the HIV/ AIDS patients and clients.

    Duties and Responsibilities: –
  • Provide technical lead to a multidisciplinary Comprehensive Care Clinic team in the provision of quality prevention, care, treatment and support services
  • Provide clinical mentorship and supportive supervision to the clinical team at the main site and satellite clinics
  • Ensure compliance to national guidelines and policies in program activities
  • Lead the Continuous Quality Improvement team & the Medicines and Therapeutics Committee in regular audits to enhance performance and effectiveness of clinical and nursing practice; documentation of best practices
  • Lead the processes of setting program targets and priorities; work plans development
  • Support the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of program activities
  • Assessing the continuous professional development needs for the main site and satellite teams and addressing them through CME’s; clinical meetings & trainings
  • Ensure coordination and information sharing between the site and other players with regard to support to the HIV program
  • Representing the hospital in diverse HIV-AIDS forums

    Required Minimum Qualifications and Skills
  • Senior Registered Clinical Officer / Medical Officer
  • Minimum 2 years' experience within HIV/TB control programs
  • Must be registered with the Clinical Officers Council and poses a valid Practicing license / Clinical experience including HIV management and demonstrated team leadership / Good analytic and problem solving skills with excellent demonstrated computer skills
  • Good Understanding of budgeting processes, target setting and monitoring
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with and lead a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to meet strict reporting deadlines / Ability to work under minimum supervision
