Job Description

The Business Operations department, or BizOps, is responsible for all key client data management, including client profiles, orders, regular repayments, and credit balances.
The BizOps Associate will work closely with our core field operations on a daily basis and will support the growth of our client base by building, developing, and motivating a large team of national staff with a focus on efficient process design, considered structure, and ambitious achievements.
This role will require a high-level of responsibility and we need someone who can effectively meet goals and deliver results through coordination and communication, process design and implementation, team building and leadership development.

Recent BizOps Accomplishments:

Last season, the Kenya BizOps team entered 189,000 farmer contract records in 4 weeks and introduced double-data entry to drive accuracy.
During delivery of products to clients throughout the season, our data was proven to be 99.996% accurate.
Last season, the Kenya Customer Engagement served 26,000+ farmers directly and sent more than 8 million tailored SMS messages to clients.

Typical projects/tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Staff Management & Development: Manage and develop a team of 10+ to ensure client orders, payments and other program features are fully reflected in our custom CRM system.
  • Managing and developing the structures and individual talent of the team will be your most important role.
  • You will also collaborate closely across departments with our Field Operations, Logistics, Technology and Finance teams.
    Client Payments:
  • Ensure that individual client payments are entered into our custom system in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Lead the transition towards using mobile repayment systems.
  • Client Order Management & Fulfillment: Manage seasonal client sign-up and order processes as well as working with Logistics to ensure thousands of clients receive what they ordered throughout the season.

    Qualifications

  • We are seeking an exceptional professional with 2+ years of work experience and a demonstrated passion for international development. Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:
  • Strong work experiences. Examples include a demanding professional work experience, or successful entrepreneurial experience (e.g. leading a conference, starting a business, solid Peace Corps accomplishments).
  • Ability to develop and grow a team. Previous people and project management experience, or experience hiring a team, is highly valuable.

    Job Description

    The Product Manager will lead the research and development of technology solutions to improve our impact and operating efficiency.

    As an example, we are increasingly interested in harnessing the power of mobile technology to better and more efficiently serve our farm families.
    With a distributed team of several thousand staff, and more than 450,000 clients, mobile technology not only has the potential to help drive more impact to huge numbers of rural farm families, but to make our operations more efficient and data-driven.
    In order to innovate on how technology can improve service delivery, we need an exceptional individual to lead on this work stream and build a strong support team. Example technology applications might include:

  • Field staff performance management/enhancement
  • One Acre Fund has thousands of field staff.
  • Governments have tens of thousands of extension agents serving farmers.
  • Distribution and collection of data – Most farmers have very little access to simple information that has the potential to significantly increase farm profitability (weather, prices, agronomic techniques, etc.).
  • Mobile technology could allow us to
    more rapidly and efficiently disseminate that information to farmers across the region. We are also interested in streamlining data collection from the field to help us solve problems, make decisions, and improve overall impact and customer experience.

    The role will involve the following responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate technology trials and work streams – coordinate technology field trials across countries and departments; serve as liaison between the field teams designing and executing trials, and the developer(s) building software and/or prototypes to support the trials; gather requirements from the field program teams; communicate technical challenges/opportunities to a broad audience.
  • Coordinate with software team – Work closely with the software team to help design and prioritize products and features, based on business unit requirements.
  • Build capacity and network – build relationships with external service providers, and help to identify the best off the shelf products and services to support trials.
  • Process design – build and manage systems and protocols for the deployment of mobile resources across the organization, including processes to manage hardware in a challenging, low-connectivity environment.

    Qualifications

  • We are seeking an exceptional professional with 5+ year(s) of work experience and ideally a demonstrated passion for international development.
  • Experience in the developing world is strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with software development process (particularly agile development)
  • Experience with mobile technology applications in the developing world is a plus
  • Leadership experience at work, or outside of work, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience managing teams and individuals.
    Strong communication skills.
  • This role will require coordination across multiple teams, and individuals and must be capable of communicating complex ideas to a broad audience and facilitate cooperation across teams and individuals.

    One Acre Fund NGO Senior Software Developer Jobs in Uganda

    Job Description

    One Acre Fund relies on a home-grown Client Management Information System to help us manage our field program information.
    Currently, our Client Management Information System handles the enrollment of 600,000 smallholder farmers spread over multiple countries, records farm supply orders, manages the delivery of seed, fertilizer, and solar lights to clients, tracks millions of payment transactions, and creates a wide variety of business intelligence reports.

    The Senior Developer will be based in Jinja, Uganda. S/he will be responsible for the following:

  • Writing, testing, and deploying as part of the team quality systems for our MS-SQL/C#/Angular stack.
    Producing a field-facing, mission-critical Program Management System.
  • Participating in the continued development of our mission-critical custom database, which impacts every aspect of the organization’s operations.
  • Developing features allowing for flexibility in the way individual countries run their operations, while still focusing on reusability across countries.
  • Maintaining a long-term perspective when faced with urgent operational demands.

    Qualifications

  • We are seeking an exceptional professional with 4+ years of experience including program management, solid programming skills, and a knowledge of database concepts to improve our existing technical systems, and ideally, a demonstrated passion for international development.
