1. NCCK Field Officer - IGA Livelihoods Jobs in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya

NCCK, an umbrella organization for Protestant Churches and Christian Organizations registered in Kenya, invites applications from interested and suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position:

Duties and Responsibilities

R1. General Management


  • Provide professional and operational management of the Income Generating Activities function to provide effective, efficient, and quality service delivery.
  • Undertake periodic review and make recommendations on changes/improvements on policies and procedures relating to the function.
  • Manage the resources allocated to the Income Generating Function in a prudent manner.
  • Ensure that the Income Generating function maintain effective service delivery
  • Facilitate regular departmental team meetings to promote communication and information sharing, discuss performance standards and compliance, staffing, monitor general trends in client complaints and other concerns and/or developments.
  • Draw up, manage and monitor the budget for the function in consultation with the Heads of Departments and the Community Health Services Manager.

    Managing the Delivery of Services and Promotion of Income Generating Activities

  • Identify target groups for income generating activities on solar energy
  • Ensure all income generating activities are up and running and efficiently monitored by the field IGA facilitators
  • Monitor all livelihoods activities in the camp and host populations to ensure gainful engagement that will eventually lead to success.
  • Initiate new IGAs that are viable and visible for self-sustainability after donor support has ended.
  • Involve beneficiaries of IGA initiatives in planning and redesigning the project for optimum output.
  • Plan and make requisitions for procurements of IGA materials and services using the set guidelines for procurement procedures.
  • Produce a detailed work plan training Programme to be implemented and followed.
  • Conduct trainings on business management to members of Income generating activities.
  • Prepare procurement plans to ensure that IGA centers are fully equipped and maintained.
  • Participate in planning and proposal preparations for donor relief funding
  • Identify individuals with specific practical needs i.e. counseling, medical treatment and shelter among others and refer them to appropriate agencies for assistance.
  • Identify priority areas of rehabilitation of a group or individuals for maximum follow up to enhance behaviour change.
  • Assess the
    impact of the running IGAs to the lives of the targeted community members
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports/statistics from all income generating activities for inclusion in the units’ reports.
  • Prepare inventory of all the income generating activities in the camp and host community.

    Management of Resources

  • Maintain inventory of any equipment under income generating projects both in the camp
  • and host Community
  • Plan and make requisitions for procurements of IGA materials and services using the set guidelines for procurement procedures.

    Level of Education
    • Diploma in in any livelihoods discipline, preferably related to livestock production, poultry services, Agricultural Economics, entrepreneurship, Business Administration, or other livelihoods related discipline

    Specialized Training/Professional Qualifications

    Entrepreneurship and Micro Enterprise Development / Management

    Competencies/Abilities/Skills Required

    • Strong interpersonal skills and a good team player.\
    • Skills in miro-enterprise management, group management, book keeping, micro-financing, planning and savings
    • High level of integrity, commitment and professional responsibility.
    • Ability to tolerate cultural, educational and religious diversity in the work place.
    • Excellent communication, organization and presentation skills.
    • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently with guidelines and clear expectations
