5. Murang’a County Jobs - Co-operative Development Job - Job Group ‘R’- 1 Post - Ref. NO MCG/PSB/2017/005


Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level may head a directorate/Division.
Duties and responsibilities will entail;-

  • providing technical advice on co-operative investments, finance, credit, marketing, project management ,
  • extension and advisory services; developing and ensuring implementation of policies;
  • enforcing compliance with co-operative legislation; designing ,
  • coordinating and monitoring the implementation of cooperative activities, programmes and policies;
  • carrying out market research and disseminating research findings;
  • preparing and validating registration and de-registration of co-operative societies documents;
  • monitoring co-operative societies liquidation process;
  • developing education and training packages for the co-operative movement;
  • promoting value addition and processing; conducting co-operative banking inspections;
  • undertaking co-operative risk assessment; developing new financial products, new credit policies and other co-operative ventures;
  • Responsible for staff supervision, development and appraisal in the Directorate/Division.

    Requirements for Appointment

  • Served as a Senior Officer in Co-operative Development department for a minimum period of three (3) years.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines;- Commerce, Business Administration ,Agriculture, Economics, Sociology, Law, Agricultural Economics, Co-operative Management ,Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management and Organizational Development, Finance or Agri-business from a recognized institution.
  • Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Commerce, Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, Sociology, Law, Agricultural, Economics, Co-operative Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management and Organizational Development, Finance or Agri-business from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
  • Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution; and
  • Demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and exhibited a thorough understanding of national goals, policies, objectives and ability to relate them to the Co-operative Development and Marketing Function.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handling Human resource matters;
  • Implementation of HR policies, rules and regulations;
  • Recruitment and selection;
  • Processing of disciplinary cases;
  • Performance management; and
  • Training and capacity building;

    Requirements for Appointment

  • Be in possession of a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any of the Social sciences;
  • A higher diploma in Human Resources management (Those with a Master’s degree will have an added advantage).
  • Have served for at least five (5) years in a busy Human Resource Department; and
  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

    7. Murang’a County Jobs - Accountants - Job Group ‘J
    - 3 Posts - Ref. NO -MCG/PSB/2017/007

    Duties and Responsibilities

    This is the entry and training grade for non-professionals. An officer at this level will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting work of limited scope and under the guidance of a senior officer.

    Specifically, work will involve preparation and verification of vouchers in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations involving primary data entry and routine accounting work such as balancing of cashbooks, imprest and advances ledgers etc.

    The scope and complexity of work will increase with experience and training but the officer will still be under close guidance where new tasks are involved. He/she will be responsible for safe custody of records and assets under him /her

  • A pass in part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or it’s recognized equivalent qualifications.

    OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option), Business Administration (Accounting option) from a recognized institution or any other relevant equivalent qualification.

    Personal Qualities In addition to the above requirements, an officer must have the following qualities:
    • Ability to get on well with the diverse workforce
    • Good knowledge in the professional field of specialization
    • Good communication skills
    • Ability to take instructions
    • Good organizational and supervisory skills

    8. Murang’a County Jobs - Reception Assistant (2 Positions) - Job Group ‘E’- MCG/PSB/2017/008

    Duties and Responsibilities

    This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will undergo an induction course on the reception function which should include basic knowledge in the firefighting equipment.

    The officer will work under a more senior Reception Assistant and will be required to direct and guide visitors’ passes and maintain good public relations in Government Offices.

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade a candidate must be in possession of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade ‘D+’ or its equivalent.
