We are seeking to appoint Senior Electrical Engineer in our Johannesburg office to provide engineering skills for the Energy section.
The individual appointed will be a member of the Energy Africa management team and will report to the Principal Account Leader. In this role you will work as part of an established national and international practice network that has a track record in the delivery of a wide and exciting range of projects.
The candidate should have a background in engineering designs, both primary and secondary plant with emphasis in protection design, settings, scheme designs and if possible, testing and commissioning; power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protection grading & settings).

The candidate should possess a reputation in the local and regional market of technical competencies. Operationally, the candidate is responsible for achieving technical and financial targets.

Responsibilities

Technical Role

  • Perform Engineering designs on primary and secondary plant;
  • Prepare written reports;
  • Prepare design documents, drawings and spread sheets suitable for issuing on tender;
  • Work with other disciplines within the Group;
  • Operate successfully on projects, reporting to a Project Manager or Lead Engineer
  • Perform power flow, short circuit and protection grading studies;
  • Manage a team of young professionals;

    Business Role

  • As a senior person, part of your role will be to maintain client relations, which would include travelling to the clients’ premises as required;
  • Prepare proposals, including the financial, technical and commercial components;
  • Attend site meetings, tender briefings as required, with travel being a key requirement.

    Requirements

  • Be a registered professional engineer, with a minimum BSc Engineering degree or equivalent and a minimum of 12 years post graduate experience
  • Have the
    ability to successfully demonstrate technical skills;
  • Have enthusiasm and a dynamic approach to work;
  • Be self-motivated with good organisational capability;
  • Have strong and effective written communication skills;
  • Have the ability to quickly evaluate and rationalise risk;
  • Have flexibility and be willing to question and respond in a positive manner;
  • Be IT literate;
  • Encouraging use of Digital Technology to increase efficiency and enable effective sharing of work
  • Demonstrate ability to work on various projects, especially on commercial developments
  • Ensuring successful technical delivery of projects and bids of various sizes
  • Experience of local and national engineering.
  • A demonstrable background of experience in engineering and design.
