Mercy Corps Consultant - Assessment of Socioeconomic Impact of the Kacheri-Lobalangit Vacancies in Uganda

Background

Mercy Corps is an international NGO that has worked to alleviate poverty and oppression in transitional environments since 1979.

Operational in Uganda since 2006, Mercy Corps implements programs designed to promote, good governance, peace, food security, and economic development across Northern Uganda.

Qualifications

List of previous similar works, including examples of socioeconomic assessment reports linked to infrastructure (40 points)

Experience of assessing USAID funded activities, in particular DFAPs (20 points)

Understanding of the activity, requested service evidenced by a relevant and detailed work plan (20 points)

Experience working in Uganda, in particular Karamoja (10 points)

Experience working with illiterate groups, and a wide variety of stakeholders, including local government and private sector actors (10 points)

Mercy Corps Consultant - Local NGO Governance Assessment Vacancies in Uganda

Background

Mercy Corps has been implementing the Growth, Health, Governance program funded by USAID in Northern Karamoja since July 2012. The program has three strategic

objectives: Livelihoods strengthened; Nutrition among children under 2 improved; Governance and Local Capacity for Conflict Mitigation Improved.

Reporting / Supervision

The contractor will be under the direct supervision of the Conflict Mitigation and Governance Team Leader (CMGTL) and will work closely with Program Management Advisor and Field Managers

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development/Human Resources/Development Studies/Social Sciences/International Relations/Project Management and advanced degree in any of the above is added advantage.

At least 5-10 years’ experience of working with local Ugandan NGOs and demonstrated evidence of capacity building

Knowledge and understanding of Ugandan laws governing local NGOs

Experience conducting similar assessments with local NGOs in Uganda, particularly Karamoja preferred
