Mediterranean Shipping Company Assistant Regional Controller Jobs


Our Client, Mediterranean Shipping Company SA (MSC) is a privately-owned company which has rapidly grown to become a leader in global container shipping. MSC runs a Regional Controlling Office for Africa in Nairobi.

The Regional controlling office is looking for a young, versatile and self driven professional to fill the position of Assistant Regional Controller. Reporting directly to the Head of Controlling, this exciting role will provide tremendous exposure for the potential candidate to grow into higher roles within the agencies in the region or within the company's global network.

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial, operational and compliance audits to determine adherence to Company guidelines, policies and procedures to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Recommend corrective action to processes and internal control environments, and to follow through the implementation of the proposed controls and improvements until finalization.
  • Coordinate between the head office, internal and external consultants and the agencies' management for implementation of operational and financial systems.
  • Act as a point of contact for the various head office departments, external parties and the agencies' management on resolving queries and issues.
  • To lead business review exercises in the region for the purposes of revenue optimization and cost reduction.
  • Attend to any other relevant specific tasks and projects that may be assigned by the regional controlling office or the head office.

    Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, Economics, related majors with at least five years experience in audit, finance or controlling departments, preferably at audit
    senior level;
  • CIA, CPA, ACCA or similar local or intemational qualification is an added advantage;
  • Excellent understanding of SAP and ORACLE based finance and operational systems as well as financial reporting & consolidation processes and systems;
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel;
  • Good understanding of maritime, shipping and freight forwarding business. Experience in these sectors is an added advantage;
  • Internationally oriented and willing to travel at least 50% of the time within the region.
  • Knowledge of French or Portuguese is an added advantage;
  • An excellent leader and an active team player with outstanding communication skills and ability to influence in a calm, structured and confident manner;
  • Ability to work under pressure without losing sight of follow through and seeing tasks to conclusion.
