Makueni County Public Service Board is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act 2012 whose mandate includes appointing persons to hold or act in the offices of County Public Service.

In order to strengthen the capacity of the Public Service, the Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following positions as per Article 176 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and Sections 45, 50 and 51 of the County Governments Act 2012.

Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries
The Kalamba Fruit Processing Plant is a key project under the Makueni County Government’s department of Agriculture, Livestock & Fisheries and seeks the services of a professionals who will be attached to the plant.

1). Quality Assurance Manager – Job Group N

Terms of Service: 3 years Contract

Job Purpose:
The Quality Control manager will be responsible for all quality assurance matters for both the raw materials and finished products. He/She will be tasked with ensuring that the products meet statutory quality regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop Quality Control Procedures for the processing plant.
  • Inspect raw materials during deliveries to ensure conformity to set standards.
  • Sample and analyse finished products to ensure the set quality is attained in line with the Quality Control Procedures.
  • Develop and monitor process Critical Control Points (CCPs).
  • Perform on-line product sampling and analysis to detect any process quality deviation, with special focus on the Critical Control Points (CCPs).
  • Control product non-conformities throughout the process, keep proper records of the non-conforming products and ensure that such products are properly isolated and labeled.
  • Maintain up-to-date Quality Control records.
  • Liaise with the relevant statutory bodies to ensure certification of the products.
  • Ensure that high standards of hygiene are maintained in the production area in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Carry out Quality Awareness training for the production staff.

    ​Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Industrial Chemistry or Chemical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • At-least three years’ experience in Quality Assurance in the Food Processing Industry.
  • Must have training and experience in HACCP and ISO 22000.

    2). Electrical Technician - Job Group M

    Terms of Service: 3 years Contract

    Job purpose:
    The successful candidate will be performing all plant equipment electrical breakdown, trouble-shooting, repairs, corrective and preventive maintenance while maintaining high safety standards.

    Responsibilities:
  • Trouble-shoot and repair production equipment electrical breakdowns in a timely manner to reduce plant break down time.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of plant equipment to reduce breakdowns and attain machine availability of above 85%.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules for the plant equipment.
  • Install, maintain and repair plant electrical facilities.
  • Propose and assist in implementation of continuous improvement of projects for the plant.
  • Liaise with the Plant Engineer to ensure availability of electrical consumables for the plant.

    Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electrical and Electronics Engineering. from a recognized institution.
  • A Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Electrical or Electrical and Electronics Engineering with at least 5 years working experience post-graduation.
  • At least three years’ professional experience in plant maintenance in the Food Processing Industry.
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) will be an added advantage.

    3). Mechanical Technician - Job Group M

    Terms of Service: 3 years Contract

    Job purpose:
    The successful candidate will be performing all plant equipment mechanical breakdown, trouble-shooting, repairs, corrective and preventive maintenance while maintaining high safety standards.

    Responsibilities:

  • Advise the Plant Engineer on required equipment spare parts and assist in their specifications.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance of all the plant installations including water and steam pipelines and tanks.
  • Propose and assist in implementation of continuous improvement projects for the plant.

    Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • A Diploma/Advanced Diploma in in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years working experience post-graduation.
  • At least three years’ professional experience in plant maintenance in the Food Processing Industry.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules for plant equipment.
