Lewa Wildlife Conservancy Chief of Operations Officer Jobs in Kenya

Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (Lewa), based in Isiolo Kenya, is an organization that works as a catalyst and a model for the conservation of wildlife and its habitat. We are looking for a high calibre, self-driven and dedicated chief operations officer with a commitment to excellence, reporting to the chief executive officer, this position is responsible for the day to day execution of the Lew strategy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leadership and monitoring program teams- conservation, security, community livelihood development, education, works and logistics; operating within Lewa and externally with partners in the conservation development landscape
  • Leadership and oversight of respective annual program plans, budgets and reporting, internally and externally to technical and donor partners
  • Leadership and management of conservancy monitoring and evaluation process
  • Coordination and development of working relationships with partner organizations to support Lewa’s work both within the conservancy and external across the greater conservation and development landscape
  • Drive strategic and operational engagement with primary partner Northern range lands trust
  • Oversight of Lewa’s operational assets- aircraft and communications systems; and
  • Leadership and engagement with donors across the conservancy’s diverse program commitments

    The person

  • Should be a holder of a master’s degree in business management or related field
  • We are looking for a special blend of deep practical field operational experience combined with
    diverse technical capacity, in line with Lewa’s conservation and community development centric strategies
  • 15 years’ experience in practical, relevant operations management, 7 of which must be in a senior leadership role
  • Proven organizational leadership skills in managing people, programs and assets
  • Demonstrated knowledge f working environment involving government, communities, private sectors and international donor entities
  • A personal style which inspires trust, team work, professionalism, cooperation and passion for Lewa’s mission; and
  • Excellent writing and communications skills and ability to develop effective relationships Fluent spoken Swahili is essential
