1. Kenya School of Law Assistant Director, Advocates Training Programme & Paralegal Studies Jobs - Ref: KSL/HR01/2017 - KSL 3 - 1 Post


Job Summary

Reporting to the Deputy Director, the position leads the ATP and Paralegal division as Core Business Unit of the School by providing leadership and strategic direction. The Position also ensures effective functioning of the division and overall responsible for ensuring quality of programs and compliance with standards.

The position is also accountable for ensuring the division has qualified, well trained, highly motivated and performing team of teaching staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of systems standards, policies and procedures in relation to delivery of the Advocates Training Program and Paralegal studies
  • Lead continuous curriculum review of the programs in consultation with stakeholders
  • Lead the implementation of strategies for the effective implementation of the Advocates Training
    program and Paralegal studies.
  • Ensure compliance with approved budget including prudent and timely spending;
  • Advice the Deputy Director on development of policies in relation to the Advocates Training Program and Paralegal Studies;
  • Initiate and maintain linkages with relevant institutions in the promotion of best practice Advocates
    Training Program & Paralegal Studies Program;

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess a minimum of an LLM degree or equivalent from a recognized university;
  • Have worked for a minimum of 12 years 5 of which should be in an academic institution in a teaching capacity;
  • Have the ability to coordinate and conduct legal training programmes;
  • Have ability to supervise staff;
  • Have excellent planning and organizational skills;
  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare and present concise oral and written reports;
  • Have good Information Communication Technology skills;
  • Have good customer care and public relations skills;
  • Possess good interpersonal relations skills and be a team player
  • Have the ability to work under minimal supervision.

    2. Kenya School of Law Assistant Director, Continuous Professional Development, Projects & Research Jobs - Ref: KSL/HR03/2017 - Grade: KSL 3 - 1 Post

    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Deputy Director, the position leads the department as a Strategic Business Unit of the School
    by providing leadership and strategic direction.

    Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement strategies to realize set revenue and business growth targets of the Centre;
  • Lead the development of policies and support efficient delivery of Legal Training, Research and
    Consultancy services;
  • Lead the development of systems and procedures to assure efficient service delivery and quality of services to exceed customer expectations;
  • Oversee the recruitment and development of a core team of staff for the Centre both fulltime and part time;
  • Initiate and implement recruitment, development and retention strategies of staff in collaboration with the Head of Human Resource;
  • Lead the development and implementation of a suitable marketing programme for the Centre’s services.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess an LLM degree or equivalent from a recognized university;
  • Have at least 12 years working experience 5 of which should be as a Trainer/ Consultant in an academic institution;

  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare and present concise oral and written reports

    3. Kenya School of Law Chef Jobs - REF: KSL/HR03/2017 -Grade: KSL 7 - 1 Post

    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Administration Officer, Hospitality, this is a supervisory position whose incumbent will be
    the overall in-charge of food assembly, preparation, production, placement, delivery, and the use, care and
    maintenance of kitchen equipment.

    Key Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures and methods for food production.
  • Design menus specific to client needs;
  • Monitor and maintain the inventory of food and supplies;
  • Ensure that the standard of cleanliness is high and maintained;
  • Responsible for care and maintenance of kitchen equipment;
  • Preparation of price fluctuation charts and other appropriate records;

    Person Specification

  • A diploma in Food Production from a recognized training Institution
  • Have thorough knowledge of culinary art including cooking, baking, salad preparation and food presentation.
  • Must be thoroughly conversant with different methods of food storage and preservation
  • Have a minimum three (3) years working experience as a chef in a busy kitchen
  • Possess a valid Food Handlers Certificate.

    Essential Competencies

  • Ability to supervise staff working in the kitchen
  • Planning and organization skills
  • Ability to maintain proper records
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
