Vacancies (Civilian Staff)


Applications are invited for the following posts in the Ministry of Defence.

1. Artisan III (Tailor), Job Group 'E' –7 Posts

Basic Salary:Ksh 11,370-13,140 p.m

House allowance:Paid according to the station of deployment

Commuter allowance: Ksh 3,000

Leave allowance:(once yearly) Ksh 4,000

Terms of Service: Permanent & Pensionable.

(a) Duties and Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities include:
  • Tailoring;

  • Undertaking minor repairs; and

  • Maintenance of sewing machines.

    (b) Requirements for Appointment
    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (Plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and

  • Artisan National Trade Test Certificate Grade III or apprentice certificate awarded by the Directorate of Industrial Training or its
    equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.

    2. Driver III, Job Group ‘D’ –3 Posts

    Basic Salary:Ksh.10,380-11,370p.m

    House allowance: Paid according to the station of deployment

    Commuter allowance:Ksh 3,000

    Leave allowance:(once yearly) Ksh 4,000

    Terms of Service: Permanent & Pensionable.

    (a) Duties and Responsibilities
    This is the entry grade for this cadre.

    Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Driving a motor vehicle as authorized;

  • Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical brake systems and tyre pressure;

  • Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems;

  • Maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned; and

  • Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road, passengers and goods.

    (b) Requirements for Appointment

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (Plain) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s);

  • Suitability Test for Drivers Grade III conducted by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure; and

  • Occupational Trade Test III for drivers conducted by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure

    3. Senior Support Staff, Job Group ‘D’ –24 Posts

    Basic Salary:Ksh.10,380-11,370 p.m

    House allowance: Paid according to the
    station of deployment

    Commuter allowance:Ksh 3,000

    Leave allowance:(once yearly) Ksh 4,000

    Terms of Service: Permanent & Pensionable.

    (a) Duties and Responsibilities

    Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking cleanliness; and

  • Performing messengerial, grounds maintenance and sanitary duties.

    (b) Requirements for Appointment
    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (Plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

  • Certificate in computer application.

    4. Registered Nurse III, Job Group ‘H’ –3 Posts

    Basic Salary: Ksh.19,323 -24,662
    p.m

    House allowance: Paid according to the station of deployment

    Commuter allowance:Ksh 4,000

    Leave allowance:(once yearly) Ksh 4,000

    Terms of Service: Permanent & Pensionable.

    (a) Duties and Responsibilities

    This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will
    include:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patient’s outcomes;

  • Providing appropriate healthcare service including Integrated Management of Childhood illness (IMCI), immunization, PMTCT, ante-natal care and delivery,

  • Providing health education and counselling to patients/clients and community on identified health needs;

  • Referring patients and clients appropriately;

  • Facilitating patients’ admission and initiating discharge plans; maintaining records on patients/clients health condition and care;

  • Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment; and

  • Collecting and compiling date.

    (b) Requirements for Appointment

  • Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya
    Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery or Kenya Registered Nursing Mental Health and Psychiatry from a recognized institution

  • Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;

  • Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya; and

  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
