Kabale University Senior Research Grants Administrator Jobs in Uganda

TTo guide and facilitate faculty and staff in the preparation of research grant proposals and contracts including budgets, documentation, and interpretation of funding requirements; and to interpret relevant university, national and sponsor research funding regulations, guidelines, and standards.

Oversees the processing of research grants and consultancy grants. Identifies and disseminates information on research grants and consultancies to University community. Develop financial accounting systems to track expenditures for all research and consultancy projects. Provides financial management training and support to research grantees at Kabale University.

Ensures internal and external research grants are expensed according to contract requirements. Ensures internal and external research grants are accounted for accurately and on time. Assists the Director Research and Publications in the quarterly preparation of operational and statistical reports on research and publication activities for University Management, government regulatory agencies and sponsors.

Report non-compliance to University, regularly agencies and sponsor guidelines and regulations to the Director Research and Publications for appropriate action.

Act as secretary to Kabale University Research Ethics Committee. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director Research and Publications. The Senior Research Grants Administrator shall report to the Director Research and Publications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares calls for grant proposals as directed and communicates feedback after assessment to applicants.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to applicants or those intending to apply for research grants and grants in aid for publications.
  • Supervises the receipt of applications for and processing of research grants and grants in aid for publications for assessment.
  • Engages and guides Principal Investigators in implementing the terms of grants awards including correct and timely submission of agreed deliverables and accountabilities.
  • Prepares relevant documentation for disbursing funds to the Principal Investigators and Publishers.
  • Organizes meetings and conferences on matters regarding the management or implementation of research grants.
  • Liaises with the Finance Unit to track and ensure the planned flow of funds to recipients and proper maintenance of disbursement records.
  • Analyses information on grants demands and
    advise the Deputy Director on projections accordingly.
  • Engages grantees of research grants to compile experiences for learning purposes and knowledge sharing.
  • Develops and maintains a grant tracking matrix and database.

    Requirements

  • Prospective applicants must have: a minimum of a Masters’ degree in Social Sciences, Business Management and Administration, Accounting or any other related fields; and financial management and accounting knowledge/experience in a reputable organization.
  • Prospective applicants with previous grant proposal and management experience are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to perform complex and multiple project tasks concurrently
  • Strong knowledge of national and international Research Ethics, guidelines and regulations
  • Must possess proposal and grant writing skills
  • Must have knowledge and experience of research report writing and publication skills
  • Have knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and independently under tight deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Be able to analyze budgets for compliance according to budget guidelines
  • Ability to and wiliness to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
  • Negotiation and arbitration skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of intellectual property rights laws, guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Strong computing skills including but not limited to MS Office
