General Summary

The officer’s will lead the day-to-day direct programme implementation of field OVC activities in
liaison with the district, other CSO’s, health facility and community structures in the areas of
operation.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop district OVC activity work plans & budgets and monitor the
    implementation of OVC activities
  • Conduct assessment of beneficiary households to identify specific OVC needs for
    program support
  • Carry out community mobilization programs for sensitization about child
    protection & legal support while promoting women emancipation and advocate
    for the rights of OVCs
  • Review and implement procedures that will enable OVC, their care takers and
    households to understand, tap and utilize opportunities for asset growth and
    skills in income growth so as to have improved livelihoods
  • Monitor the implementation of strategies that enhances enrolment, provision of nontuition costs and essential requirements of OVC education and advocate for the
    alignment of activities for HIV prevention intervention and reduction of
    stigma/discrimination in the school curriculum
  • Support functionality of OVC coordination structures at district and sub-district levels
  • Lead capacity building initiatives among OVC service providers at various levels
  • Build systems to ensure effective referral and linkages for OVCs to community
    support structures
  • Deliver economic strengthening initiatives to the vulnerable OVC households
  • Ensure high quality reporting of OVC activities through national information
    management systems
  • Strengthen provision of high quality health care packages for OVCs and their
    households.
  • Support OVC case management and beneficiary assessments to track progress
    towards graduation
  • Document and report family and child success stories based on program intervention.
  • Carry out monthly data collection, analysis
    and reporting on OVC activities in the supported
    district.

    Qualifications, skills and experience

  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Social Sciences,
    Development studies or any other related field
  • At least 2 years’ recent experience implementing OVC programs with a reputable NGO,
    and direct experience with government and donor representatives
  • Have Key personal competences in Team and communication skills, networking and
    partnership skills.
  • Must be dynamic, Persuasive & convincing, self- motivated and able to demonstrate high
    initiative.
  • Excellent computer skills are desirable.
  • Knowledge of the local community dynamics and language is an added advantage
