ICDC Executive Director Jobs in Kenya

Our client, the Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation [ICDC), is a Development Finance Institution (DM with over 60 years of experience in promoting projects that create wealth and jobs for Kenyans in diverse sectors of the economy.



ICDC supports projects in the Manufacturing, Agro-processing, ICT Infrastructure and software development and Energy sectors towards the realization of the Government's Big Four Agenda.

ICDC in its strategic move to support its mandate and attain planned growth seeks to recruit an innovative, transformational and result driven individual with a high level of integrity who will lead the Corporation in the achievement of its mandate and strategic objectives.


Job Purpose Reporting to: the Board, the Executive Director (ED) will be responsible for the implementation of the Corporation's strategy as guided by the Board.


The ED will also be expected to proactively provide insights and direction, in the implementation of committed and planned projects on time and within the approved budget, whilst ensuring growth of business and increased return on assets.


Key Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develop and recommend the Corporation's strategy and business plans to the Board for approval;
  • Oversee execution of management and financial accounting roles and ensure ICT is leveraged in support of operational effectiveness;
  • Ensure standards and statutory compliance and manage existing and emerging Corporation's business risks;
  • Promote and uphold best practice Corporate Governance structures in line with ICDC core values of reliability, customer focus, creativity and integrity;
  • Develop and nurture a dynamic and competent workforce through a robust performance-driven culture;
  • Implement Board decisions efficiently and effectively and keep the Board informed on all strategic aspects of business;
  • Establish effective internal monitoring and control systems in executing the strategy;
  • Ensure continuous achievement of the Corporation's financial and operating goals and objectives;
  • Maintain and manage awareness of the business, economic and political environment as they affect the Corporation;
  • Ensure continuous improvements in the quality and value of services and products provided by the Corporation;
  • Oversee corporate planning, budgeting and effective implementation of policy decisions at both strategic
    and operational levels;
  • Ensure the Corporation's compliance with international standards of operations accepted in the industry, and continuous improvements in the quality and responsiveness of regulatory frameworks adopted by the Corporation.


    Person Specifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution;
  • Preferably holds a Master's Degree in a relevant field;
  • Be a member of a relevant professional body where applicable;
  • At least fifteen (15) years' work experience in a relevant industry, ten (10) of which must have been in a senior management position;
  • Demonstrate Financial Management responsibility and accountability competencies;
  • Have demonstrable understanding of investment management and optimization;
  • Have an established track record and reputation for outstanding performance;
  • Possess experience working with governments and private sector players as strategic business partners, stakeholders and/or shareholders;


    In addition, the job holder must possess the following:


  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Demonstrated innovation skills in service delivery;
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills; Proven capability to formulate business strategies;
  • Strong team development and management skills; Proven transformative leadership skills; I Meets the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
