GIZ Technical Advisor- Energy Skills Development Jobs in Uganda



Green People's Energy is an initiative launched bythe German Federal Minister fo rEconomic Cooperation and Development, Mr. Gerd Muller, in June 2017 as part of the Marshal Plan with Africa. The initiative is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fiir Internationale Zusammenarbeit(GlZ) GmbH in eighttocal countries: Benin, Cote d'lvoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, Senegal, Uganda and Zambia, The country project Uganda aims improving the access to decentralized renewable energy systems forfarmers, enterprises, cooperatives and social institutions in rural areas. In Uganda, the project will consist of three components:


Responsibilities


  • Implementation of activities regarding the development of RE curricula, course modules, training materials and concepts
  • Preparation, design and implementation of training of trainers (ioT) as well as training for technicians and RE appliance users such as farmers
  • Creation of tailor-made support packages for Vils ind. solar power supply, training materials and demonstration sites
  • Regular engagement with the selected Vils and other partners to identify opportunities, address challenges and maintain sound relations during implementation
  • Maintain communication with other Gil energy and moral development projects for coordination and implementation of synergetic and joint activities
  • Monitor project progress for all activities under the skills development component
  • Always uphold GIZ ‘s values of sustainable development, transparency, efficiency and anti-corruption towards public, partners, government, private sector and institutions.
  • The Energy Skills Development Advisor will be expected to perform the
    following tasks:


    Requirements


  • Bachelor's or master ‘s degree in RE,electrical engineering or similar disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years working experience, at least 2 years in vocational training and/or RE
  • Ability to meet commitments, plan ahead of time, observe deadlines, achieve results
  • Ability to express him/herself clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
  • Polite and professional manner in conduct, in person, by phone and email
  • Strong ability to work within a team and follow
    a common goal
  • Computer literacy with excellent knowledge of MS Office and experience in using energy software design tools
  • Excellent English language skills..
  • Experience in the design and implementation oi RE curricula and training
  • Practical experience in vocation training and teaching
  • Experience with RE technologies and agricultural equipment such as pumps, mills, driers, cooling and other appliances
  • Sound understanding oi the Ugandan vocational training sector
  • Ability to convey complex technical matters in a comprehensive manner
  • Experience in stakeholder consultation and coordination is an advantage
  • Appreciation of the social, gender and youth aspects oi energy and rural development
  • Willingness to up skill as required by the tasks to be performed.
