1. Communication Specialist
Will provide assistance in the documentation and dissemination of country program and research activities to various stakeholders in Kenya and beyond and ensure knowledge management for FHI 360 in Kenya.
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
Oversee the writing, packaging and dissemination of information on successful and promising approaches, lessons learned and other program results to stakeholders.
Assist in the preparation of project communication and information instruments including presentations, briefing material for dissemination to different audiences in coordination with the supervisor and Chiefs of Party.
Participate in the identification and pursuit of potential opportunities to promote FHI 360 work through events, meetings and conferences
Provide Technical support to staff and partners on Branding and marking plan.
Provide technical support, including training, to program staff on communications, ensuring that reports align with FHI360’s and donor branding guidelines.
Work with program and research staff to proactively write success stories, lessons learned, best practices and other materials that document the impact of programs and research.
Working with FHI 360’s global communications team to maintain FHI 360’s brand for consistency.
Update staff on new materials available at FHI 360 through notice and email.
Assist FHI 360/Kenya team to develop and maintain a sound media relations strategy that promotes FHI 360’s work.
Provide guidance, training and other support to the Kenya office to document activities photographically, including contributing to photos to FHI 360’s photo database.
Provide in-house editorial support to ensure high-quality reports.
Liaise with Library services in FHI 360 HQ to access relevant information and provide the same to program and research staff including literature searches when requested.
For external audiences, update FHI 360.org with reports, tools and publications on FHI 360 Kenya activities in online data bases as needed. For internal audiences, provide regular updates on FHI 360 intranet site.
Create/maintain a mailing list /data base of FHI 360 stakeholders in Kenya and outside the country.
Bachelor’s degree in social science, journalism, communication, public health or public relations or postgraduate diploma with 5-7 years’ experience in knowledge management including reporting and documentation and dissemination; or Master’s degree with 3-5 years’ experience in the same field.
Five (5) or more years in project communications within an international development agency setting or basic degree in journalism, communication or public relations with more than eight (8) years’ work experience.
Experience in writing/editing for the media or publications.
Experience in the media and media relations is desirable.
Ability to write within tight deadlines.
Ability to work to set deadlines with minimum supervision as well as within teams.
Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Data Management Assistant
Will be responsible for organizing, entering data into project database systems and filling of data forms appropriately to ensure security of records and timely and accurate reporting.
S/he will be required to maintain data confidentiality and integrity for the project as directed. S/he will work directly with the M&E Officer who will provide directions and guidance in data management.
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
Liaising with M&E Officers to ensure consistent supply of data collection tools for program activities and other M&E resources as required.
Timely entry of program data into project databases in line with Standard Operating Procedures and USG data management guidelines.
ensuring data quality is maintained during entry.
Supporting the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in data cleaning.
Support the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in planning and implementation of Data Quality Assessments/.
Run basic data analysis and summaries as required from time to time.
Filling program records and reports appropriately.
Maintaining data confidentiality and security.
Assist in collecting data from Community Health Units.
Build the capacity of CHW at Level 1 to collect and report data on community unit activities.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor from time to time.
In-depth understanding of GOK and USAID/PEPFAR reporting requirements.
Understanding of importance of quality and timely data.
Experience in data entry.
Possess a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Demonstrated team player who is able to work well with others and to develop and maintain relationships among project staff and with implementing partners.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Good planning and high level organizational skills.
Demonstrated good typing speed.
Diploma in Statistics/Health Information Systems/Information Technology with at least 1-3 years’ experience in data management work.
Computer proficiency in word processing, in MS Office Suite, Epi Info and familiarity with SPSS preferred.
3. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Job Summary / Responsibilities:
Management of project data bases for the Afya Uzazi Nakuru/Baringo Program project.
Assist in coordination of monitoring and evaluation activities of the project at county level, focusing specifically on capacity building of partners on systems for collecting data for measuring project implementation.
Under the Associate Director guidance, offer technical assistance to implementing partners to develop and implement monitoring and evaluation plans.
Provide logistical support to ensure constant availability and technical support to ensure use of approved standardized tools by facilities and implementing partners in accordance with guidelines stipulated by USAID and GOK.
Ensure implementing partners understand the project indicators, have a functional system for collecting, analysis and synthesis of monitoring data.
Offer technical support on reporting tools, data management processes, analysis and interpretation of indicators to implementing partners to meet program requirements.
Train facilities and implementing partners on reporting requirements, indicator definitions and use of data tools.
Plan and facilitate capacity building and training of implementing partners in monitoring and evaluation through formal and informal adult learning methods.
Coordinate collection of Afya Uzazi Nakuru/Baringo program activities data to ensure it is complete and timely.
Coordinate routine data quality assessments within respective regions.
Provide support to implementing partners in compiling monthly reports and basic data analysis.
Experience in setting up data bases.
Experience in training and capacity building using adult learning methods.
Experience in data analysis and presenting statistical reports.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
Demonstrated team player.
Keen to maintain data security and data quality systems.
Working knowledge of FHI 360/USAID/PEPFAR data requirements.
Good planning and organizational skills.
Tact and diplomacy in dealing with implementing partners.
MS/MA/MPH in relevant field with 3-5 years’ relevant experience or BS/BA in relevant field with at least 5-7 years’ experience in Monitoring and Evaluation.
Computer proficiency in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, including advanced skills in at least two of the following programs: SPSS, Excel, Stata, and MS Access.
Demonstrated experience with Health Management Information Systems and ability to transfer knowledge through informal and formal training.
