14. FHI 360 Senior Technical Officer, HIV Prevention Jobs in Kenya


The Senior Technical Officer, HIV Prevention is responsible for serving as organizational technical expert and leader in HIV prevention programming. The incumbent should possess deep technical knowledge and substantial experience building technical capacity in HIV prevention programs.

He/she must have proven ability to develop and advise a diverse portfolio of HIV prevention, care and treatment efforts.

Job Summary / Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for implementation of HIV prevention, adolescents and youth, discordant couples and PLHIV
  • HIV testing and counselling
  • Collaborate with other teams (e.g. community services teams) to support social and behaviour change communications
  • Work closely with the Gender Specialist to develop approaches to address gender based violence and HIV prevention
  • Support continuous quality improvement and quality assurance in HIV prevention programs
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of current science around HIV combination prevention
  • Ability to provide a wide range of clinical services and capable of effectively transference of skills, effective communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer software skills for word processing.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative to manage high volume workload.

    Minimum Requirements:]
  • Master’s level degree in public health and 7 years demonstrated expertise in HIV prevention programs and services
  • Substantial experience designing, working with, and advising large scale field programs and translating evidence into policies, programs, and services for improved HIV prevention.
  • Experience with combination biomedical and behavioural prevention.

    15. FHI 360 Laboratory Specialist Jobs in Kenya

    Provides laboratory technical assistance, capacity building, training, laboratory audits and assessments, quality assurance and blood safety services to clinical laboratories being supported by CDC in Kenya (Rift Valley and Western regions).

    Job Summary / Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical assistance to laboratories and others as needed and requested as part of overall capacity building and continuous improvement schemes.
  • Assist in incorporating laboratory strengthening and clinical laboratory functions and services into their programs.
  • Assists with the preparation and delivery of laboratory trainings and training-related services particularly relating to laboratory quality management systems for HIV, TB and opportunistic infections.
  • In close collaboration with laboratory management support the follow-up of needed corrective and preventive actions.
  • Responsible for initiating continuous improvement initiatives upon request to build laboratory capacity and quality with reference to accepted standards and requirements.
  • Assist laboratories with setting up internal quality control systems and/or participating in External Quality Assessment Schemes.
  • Assist with the preparation of project progress reports and tracking project progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance systems including pertinent national and international regulations and guidance. This knowledge to include direct experience implementing SLMTA/SLIPTA.
  • Proven capability and direct experience in clinical and research laboratory functions and services, including in resource constrained settings.
  • Proven capability and direct experience in conducting HIV and TB diagnostics.
  • Direct experience developing and delivering trainings in laboratory sciences.
  • Degree in biological science or laboratory sciences within a clinical or diagnostic discipline or Higher National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent with 5-7 years of experience.
  • At least four years related work experience within a clinical or research laboratory including experience with laboratory quality control and quality assurance systems and implementation as well as SLMTA/SLIPTA.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Ability and aptitude to provide laboratory technical assistance and capacity building services and to perform quality assurance assessments against accepted national and international standards and regulations.
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills including experience in training and mentoring staff and others.
  • Ability to travel within Kenya for up 60% of the time.

    16. FHI 360 Laboratory Specialist/Biosafety Lead Jobs in Kenya

    The Biosafety Lead will be responsible for all program biosafety and biosecurity activities. He/she will be reporting to the PI on matters relating to waste management, injection safety, infection prevention and control (IPC), administrative and environmental control to reduce exposure to infections, and occupational safety and health (OSH).

    He/she will be expected to work closely with all program staff, and in particular CQI Lead in providing technical guidance and capacity building to county staff on implementation of the various guidelines relating to safety.

    He/she will coordinate the training of facility-based staff on injection safety, infection control and waste management and OSH. The officer will work with counties to customize the various biosafety and biosecurity guidelines.

    Job Summary / Responsibilities:
  • Taking the lead in technical advice on injection safety and infection prevention and control at the county, sub-county and facility level as may be necessary.
  • Developing, organizing and delivering training of healthcare workers on safe phlebotomy practices as may be required from time to time.
  • Work with the county and facilities to promote and implement IPC/Injection safety, OSH and waste management guidelines.
  • Providing technical support to counties in organizing and implementing waste disposal networks.
  • Liaising with the facility Health Safety and Environment office and other regulatory authorities on matters of injection safety, infection control and waste management.
  • Mentorship and participation in laboratory safety and biosafety audits in health facilities under the program as well as provide technical assistance to address issues identified.
  • Development of tools for mentoring laboratory personnel in implementation of bio-safety and bio-security guidelines.
  • Participating in bio-safety training of healthcare workers as may be required.

    Qualifications:
