County Government of Kiambu Dietician /Nutritionist Officer III, Job Group “H” (2 Posts) Jobs


Main Tasks

  • Screen and assess patients on admission
    for risk of under-nutrition as per protocol
  • Ensure patients receive appropriate
    menus according to their oral and fluid status
  • Continually update Nursing Staff on
    patients’ oral and fluid status
  • Adhere to current policies and procedures
    regarding provision of both therapeutic and non-therapeutic diets
  • Participate in quality and research audits
    and other data collection

    Education

  • Diploma in Community or Nutrition Health

    Knowledge
  • Knowledge of dietetics, foods and nutrition, food service systems management, or a related area

    Skills
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interview, teach and counsel patients

    Required License /Certificate

  • Registered by the Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute

    Work Experience

  • At least two years’ experience as a Nutritionist

    Machines, Tools, and Equipment
  • PC and PC applications and other general office equipment
  • Patient assessment tools Authority / decision making
  • Participates in the development of procedures for the department.
  • Makes decisions regarding work processes based on established guidelines.
  • Prioritizes and organizes work to meet changing conditions.

    County Government of Kiambu Dietician Medical Pharmaceutical Technologist III, Job Group “H” (1 Post) Jobs

    Main Tasks

  • Check prescriptions for proper dosages and
    prepare prescribed pharmaceutical products as necessary
  • Provide counselling on prescribed medications where appropriate
  • Take part in supply chain management to ensure that essential stocks are available in the main pharmacy and internal outlets you may be responsible for
  • Ensure proper receipt and storage of pharmaceuticals and maintain appropriate documentation for accountability
  • Maintain stocks registers and updated
    price lists
  • Continually update wards/clinical teams on available drugs from the pharmacy

    Required Competencies

    Education (Minimum Level of Education)
  • Diploma in Pharmacy

    Knowledge
  • Knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical laws
  • Familiar with the Code of Ethics and Standards for Pharmacy Practice in Kenya
  • Deep understanding of the Pharmacy and Poisons Act, and regulatory requirements of
    the Pharmacy and Poisons Board

    Skills

  • Ability to communicate and explain treatments to patients as well as liaise and co-ordinate treatment with other clinical staff Attention to Detail
  • Dispensing the right medicines in the right dosage can be a 'life and death' activity.
  • The hospital pharmacy and its outlets can at times be extremely busy and hectic. Needs to be highly organized not only to meet the demands of the role but also to avoid mistakes being made along the way.
  • Most patients find Doctors intimidating, and may not ask the questions they need about their medication. As a result, it's vital that the pharmacist is approachable to all and indeed recognizes when a patient may require extra help and advice to understand their treatment.
  • Medicines are changing and developing all the time. Need to constantly keep updated on changes in the licenses (uses) or medicines as well as learning about newly launched medicines.

    Required License /Certificate
  • Registered by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
