Seeking Multiple Candidates

Chemonics seeks multiple candidates for an anticipated USAID funded project based in Ethiopia. We are seeking mid-level candidates in the fields listed below.

All positions require experience and demonstrated ability to effectively interact with national, district, and community authorities, USG and other donors, as well as other implementing partners. Proficiency in English is required for all positions.

Research Analyst

The Research Analyst will support the team to better understand the social, political, security, and economic dynamics that impacts project programming in Ethiopia.

S/he will assist the team in identifying new ideas and approaches, and possible challenges, with the existing and possible future activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce written report on a specific research product topic utilizing multiple sources, including open source reporting and media
  • Liaise with various stakeholders including government officials, NGOs, civil society actors, and media outlets to improve the project’s understanding of the country context
  • Support program team to review and improve current programming, identify and introduce future partners to the project team, and conduct strategic analysis;
  • Participate in meetings and discussions with
    potential project partners and provide written debrief;
  • other research-related tasks as assigned.
  • Contribute to reporting and learning materials and deliverables as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by project leadership team

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required.
  • Strong research skills, excellent knowledge of the social, economic, political, and security dynamics in Ethiopia
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and capacity to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility, creativity, and the ability to maintain a rapid and demanding pace of work are required.
  • Ability to work in a professional and cordial manner with fellow staff members, partner institutions including international and local NGOs, governmental entities, support organizations, and the general public.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to prioritize multiple work assignments, to meet deadlines, and to exercise good, professional judgment that communicates the established message of the project.
  • Working proficiency in office computer applications, including MS Word, and Excel.
  • Fluency in written and oral Amharic and English
