Job Purpose

Automation of risk management in the Bank's risk function, coordination and implementation of the Risk Management strategy, carrying out risk assessment and maintaining the risk registers of all business units, coordinating and managing the activities of assessing and measuring risks and advising on the required controls.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Automating Risk Management in the Bank.
  • Implement risk assessment activities which involves analysing risks as well as identifying and measuring the risks affecting the business units;
  • Carrying out risk evaluation, which involves comparing estimated risks with the criteria established by the Bank such as operational costs, legal compliance and environmental factors;
  • Working with various Business Units to establish and quantify the Bank’s risk appetite;
  • Participate in the development of risk reports for a variety of audiences such as heads of business units, Senior Management and the Board of Directors;
  • Developing and Implementing common processes, practices, tools and risk metrics to reduce risk exposure;
  • Participate in the development of staff training programs that build risk awareness within the Central Bank.
  • Participitate in the development of initiatives to build a culture of risk awareness in the bank.

    Qualification and Experience

  • Minimum: Upper Second Class Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Accounting, Finance, Banking or related field.
  • Professional certification in Risk Management will be an added advantage.
  • One to two years’ experience as a Risk Management Officer.

    Competencies

  • Knowledge in financial systems
  • Clear understanding of emerging technologies, risk management issues and relevant emerging issues in Risk Management.
  • Ability to rapidly learn the business and strategies of the Bank operational units
  • Excellent communication, analytical, planning, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think strategically with creative problem solving skills.

    Central Bank of Kenya Vacancies - Market Analysts Jobs in Kenya

    Job Purpose

    Contribute to the monitoring of foreign exchange operations and Conduct domestic debt analysis, strategy formulation and design.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct off-site and on-site monitoring of all Foreign Exchange (FOREX) operations.
  • Monitor Diaspora FOREX remittances
  • Review reports of FOREX transactions.
  • Analyze and prepare financial market intelligence reports.
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Product design and development

    Qualification and Experience

  • Minimum: Upper Second Class Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Banking, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related areas.
  • Professional qualifications in Accounting, Banking, Finance, Capital Markets or related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • One to two (2) years’ experience in accounting, banking,
    fund management, debt management, treasury operations and/or any other relevant area will be necessary.

    Central Bank of Kenya Vacancies - Portfolio Officers Jobs in Kenya

    Job Purpose

    Support the efficient analysis and execution of portfolio transactions, consistent with domestic debt management policy and strategy including Central Depository System (CDS) portfolio management, issuance of new instruments and innovations in the financial markets operations.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in the management of domestic debt operations including auctions, subscriptions, etc.; organizing distribution channels and issuance procedures; development of arrangements for intervention and contacts with markets; and management of national outstanding domestic debt portfolio.
  • Assist in the establishing and development of a deep and liquid bond market
  • Participate in the development of the supply of domestic debt instruments for the establishment of an efficient primary market, creating efficient channels for the distribution of securities, progressively extending the maturity profile of national debt instruments and consolidating the number of debt issues, among others.

    Qualification and Experience

  • Minimum: Upper Second Class Bachelor’s Degree in Banking, Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Communications or related areas.
  • Professional qualifications in Banking, Accounting, Corporate Communications or related disciplines will be an added advantage.
  • One to two (2) years’ experience in financial analysis, investment, portfolio management, banking, customer relations, marketing and/or any other relevant area will be necessary.

    Competencies

  • Knowledge of product design and marketing
  • Ability to manage and relate to varied stakeholders
  • Knowledge and understanding of the various stages involved in debt management.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, planning, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically with creative problem solving skills.
