The Commodity Specialist ensures the efficient and effective management of commodities including food, non-food items and shelter materials for South Sudan program operations.

Precise job responsibilities can vary but may include anything needed to set up and maintain commodity management and storage operations and frequently involves work with other agencies to accomplish this objective.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Commodity management and internal controls

• Safety and security

• Contractual responsibilities

• Coordination and liaison

• Human resources and administration

Primary Skills:

• At least five (5) years of commodity management at all levels

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of donor regulations

• Well conversant with food aid targeting and monitoring techniques

• Proven logistics skills and experience relating to large scale commodity management

• Good knowledge of contracting terms and conditions

• Ability to negotiate with vendors under often difficult and stressful conditions

• Knowledge of contracting terms for: surveys to be conducted on shipments; clearing and forwarding agents; transport contractors; warehousing; MoU with partners

We expect this position to be for 2 - 2.5 months.
