3. Private Members Club Brasserie Manager Job in Nairobi, Kenya


Job Ref: CM/BM/1

Our client is a Private Members Club located within Nairobi and caters to Kenyan, European, Indian and international clientele.

They require a Manager who will be responsible for managing not only all the aspects of the brasserie, but the activities and events that take place on certain days / nights.

The venue is targeted to draw in the younger members of the Club at the same time providing a world class product to the more senior members.

Dress is informal in this area.

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the entire brasserie operation, including front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
  • Deliver superior guest services and ensure absolute customer satisfaction
  • Respond efficiently to customer complaints
  • Greeting, advising customers and ensuring reservations are dealt with efficiently
  • Enforce and offer the best quality of food and beverage as possible by working with the cheffing staff – and brainstorming new and delicious menus.
  • Organise and supervise shifts
  • Prepare and manage in liaison with the events desk an events programme for the venue to include the timely dissemination of publicity.
  • Train, develop and mentor the service personnel
  • Appraise personnel’s performance and provide feedback to keep them upbeat and productive
  • Estimate consumption, forecast requirements and maintain inventory
  • Implement and monitor cost and waste control
  • Successfully promote and publicise the brand
  • Nurture a positive working environment and lead by example as Brasserie Manager
  • Track operations and start corrective actions
  • Ensure that all operations conform in all facets with statutory hygiene, health and safety and personnel legislation

    Person Specification
  • Strong leadership (leading by example) and motivational skills.
  • Needs to be very service and quality oriented – must have an eagle eye for detail
  • Ability to plan, execute, follow up and be positive to change in a very flexible working environment.
  • Ability to innovate and foster creativity.
  • Effective planner and organiser
  • Strong team building abilities.
  • Strong command of the English language combined with good verbal and written skills.
  • Good social skills.

    Qualification and Skills
  • Relevant qualification in food production and hospitality
  • A minimum of 3.5/4 years’ experience in the same capacity
  • A deep understanding of food, beverage and service.

    In addition – important to note…
  • You need to be extremely creative when it comes to thinking of ways to draw in younger members to the venue in terms of activities, promotions and events.

  • You should have some experience of event management and if not, you will be asked to present some of your ideas at interview. You will definitely be highly organised and well used to working under pressure - and be flexible about working hours.

  • You will be a creative thinker with an eye for detail and manage by walking around – not from behind your desk.

  • You will be extremely well spoken, well presented and have an excellent command of verbal and written English.

  • You will have worked and got on with a myriad of cultures and be able to remember the names of your clients.

  • Above all you will be a leader who will take the time to train the service staff to the highest standards – with a cutting edge of building relationships with the members and offering them 5 star service.

  • Extensive own travel experience in South America
