The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, nongovernmental organization that carries out policy relevant research on population, health, education and development issues facing sub-Saharan Africa.



APHRC invites applications for a visual participatory methodologies expert for its Public Engagement on the Right to Food project.


The main aim of the project is to stimulate dialogue and engage the communities living in the urban informal settlements on the right to food.


APHRC Consultancy Participatory Visual Methodology Opportunities


Job Description (responsibilities):


Facilitate in a capacity building workshop covering the following;

  • Participatory GIS
  • Project management
  • Monitoring and evaluation

    Engage with the project team in building capacity and supervision of community organized groups using participatory visual methodologies for PE including;

  • Photovoice
  • Participatory GIS
  • Digital story telling
  • Composite videos
  • Participatory theatre
  • Graffiti and wall murals

  • Photovoice and participatory video data management/analysis and writing


    Minimum qualifications required:


  • Post-doctoral training and experience in participatory visual methodologies
  • Experience in using various participatory visual methodologies including Photovoice, digital storytelling, participatory GIS and composite videos

    in Kenya during the project period
