1. APA Insurance Risk Manager Jobs in Kenya


This role is responsible for designing, implementing, assessing, monitoring and integration of the Risk Management process into the day-to-day business of each entity and the Group.

Ensuring compliance by all entities and staff to the adopted code of conduct or take other appropriate means to commit the group to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, supervisory decisions and internal policies, and conduct its business ethically and responsibly.

Job Responsibilities

  • Formulating risk strategy, implementing and integrating across the respective entities to ensure consistent enterprise wide risk management methodology.
  • Developing plans, standards, procedures and guidelines to support the implementation of Risk policies and frameworks including mitigating strategies for the various risks.
  • Identifying and maintaining an aggregated view of the risk profile of the company as a legal entity and at the group-wide level by developing and updating the risk registers for the different entities
  • Assessing the company’s capacity to absorb risk with respect to nature, probability, duration, correlation and potential severity including monitoring and conducting regular stress testing, scenario analyses and other specialist analyses of risks;.
  • Evaluating the internal and external risk environment on an on-going basis in order to identify and assess emerging and potential risks as early as possible;
  • Communicating the risk management policies to all Group employees as well as organizing and conducting risk management trainings, awareness initiatives to ensure risk and compliance culture is embedded within the entire group;
  • Report to Senior Management, Key Persons in control functions and the Board on the company’s risk profile, significant compliance issues and details on the risk exposures facing the company and related mitigation actions as appropriate;
  • Establish quantified risk appetite for various risks facing each entity and evaluate risks against the criteria/threshold set.
  • Providing independent and objective review of the information presented by management on corporate accountability, ethics and associated risk, taking account of risk concerns raised by management on financial, business and strategic risk.
  • Prepare an annual compliance program incorporating legal, regulatory and internal policies & procedures for all the entities in the group and work with respective management towards adherence.
  • Develop an ethics program and report on the status of compliance
  • Coordinate BCP in conjunction with the committee and ensure the group’s business continuity risks are adequately mitigated
  • Coordinate the training &/or train all employees on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorist Financing as well as on any new laws and regulation affecting the group as they emerge.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Insurance
    or an equivalent
  • CPA or Risk Management qualification or CISA
  • At least 4 years in a risk management environment within a large organization preferably in a financial services industry or a big consulting firm
  • Proficient knowledge on the Insurance or Finance industry and Capital markets in Kenya
  • Proven exposure to Risk Management and excellent understanding of principles of risk management
  • An understanding of the three pillars of compliance; legal, regulatory & internal policies & procedures.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation and communication skills
  • IT proficiency i.e. experience in analysis using statistical packages, MS Excel and other analytical tools
    Continuous Process Improvement understanding
  • Analytical thinking and Problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Leadership and People management skills

    2. APA Insurance Business Development Jobs Kenya

    This position is responsible for developing quotations, scrutinizing proposals, risk assessment and acceptance, renewal follow ups and policy documentation with the aim of enforcing effective credit control, delivery of set loss ratio and building and maintaining customer relationships.

    Job Responsibilities

  • Sourcing and procuring of business in line with the set targets/budgets;
  • Addressing client/customer enquiries and feedback within the timelines stipulated in service charter and/or SLAs signed with respective clients;
  • Reviewing performance of risks through loss ratio reports for both new and existing business;
  • Supporting in premium collection;
  • Preparing weekly and monthly reports giving details of individual performance on business acquired/lost and feedback on market practices from customers;
  • Preparing quotations, policy documents, issue certificates and cover notes;
  • Sending renewal notices to clients and advise on changes in policy if any;
  • Participating in company CSR and brand building activities in liaison with other departments.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance or Business Related.
