    Job Role:

    To plan, manage, monitor and supervise the implementation of the DFID Programme on Gender Based Violence project objectives in line with donor guidelines and organization’s strategic plan CSP

    Person Specifications

    Qualification:

  • A minimum of an Honours Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognised University
  • Diploma in Legal practice from Law Development Centre or any recognised institution
  • Post Graduate qualification in project planning and management or any related field is an added advantage.

    Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience preferably in an INGO or NGO.

    Skills and Abilities:
  • Practical knowledge of court processes/ procedures and possession of a valid practicing certificate is a must
  • Practical experience in providing probono services to victims of GBV including legal advice, representation in court, rehabilitation and resettlement
  • Knowledge of Gender, Human rights and gender based violence issues is a must
  • Good communication (Oral and written) skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

    Key Result Areas
    Duties and Responsibilities
  • Working closely with the Project coordinator WPC, undertake timely planning, implementation and reporting of the project activities in line with the project donor and AAIU requirements
  • Prepare activity and quarterly plans and budgets in line with the approved annual work plan.
  • Develop concepts and implement National level activities in close partnership with other implementing partners
  • Coordinate and hold meetings on plans and budgets with the partner organization and project staff to address emerging issues
  • Work with the grants coordinator to develop, submit quarterly work plans, budgets and funds request to DFID
  • Prepare and compile activity, monthly, quarterly and Annual reports
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with implementing partners, district and national stakeholders to promote AAIU image in line with the Organizational mission vision and values.
  • Work with partners to implement all planned activities and report on its progress
  • Participate in all Consultative meetings with DPP’s office, Chief Magistrate, Registrar, magistrates and judges to Advocate for institutionalization of GBV specialized courts.
  • Participate in all Capacity building initiatives of key stakeholders like police, State Attorneys and Health workers to facilitate processes of evidence collection and preservation
  • Obtain and maintain a list of commitments from all the
    consultative meetings with stakeholders.
  • Analyse and document project experiences and lessons for shared learning with stakeholders and Donors
  • Represent the organisation in key district stakeholder fora, workshops and meetings related to the project to raise the profile of the organization.
  • Facilitated GBV Courts to convene to enable GBV survivors obtain improved access to justice through specialized court sessions in Acholi and Teso/Lango and Karamoja regions to reduce on the numbers and improve on the disposal rates.
  • Conduct inception meetings in partnership with partners in the three regions.
  • Ensure the judicial Officers are facilitated to conduct specialized GBV case session with an aim of reducing GBV case backlog.
  • Ensure that GBV Survivors are provided with integrated GBV services including Legal, Psychosocial, medical and facilitated to attend court sessions together with their witnesses
  • Work with other staff and partners to provide integrated services to GBV survivors
  • Provide GBV survivors and witnesses with pre court training and counseling for confidence building.
  • Ensure timely facilitation of survivors n witnesses to attend court sessions.
  • Undertake monitoring and evaluation of project activities and document success stories arising in line with the project and ActionAid Uganda M&E framework.
  • Carry out periodic Project monitoring visits and produce reports in line with the donors requirements
  • Document success stories a rising from the project implementation for wider sharing
  • Document outcomes from the implementation of activities for sharing on the weekly.
