Act Change Transform Program Officer - Climate Change Jobs in Kenya


Responsibilities

Program Management
  • Provide technical leadership on ENRM Climate Change concerns for all of Act!’s ENRM programs.
  • Develop initiatives within the program and project designs to respond to Climate Change concerns.
  • Provide advisory services to all Act! partners on Environment and Natural Resources Management within the context of Climate Change.
  • Ensure that all ENRM initiatives on Climate Change and reporting, take into account the environmental concerns and linkage with livelihoods.
  • On a weekly and monthly basis, track, assess and analyze the Climate Change context of Kenyan and regional Environment and Natural Resources Management and provide technical support to Climate Change networks through the sharing of best practices and policy advocacy.
  • Actively inform the ENRM Program on Climate Change innovations and engagement on local and international debate particularly on Climate Change discourse.
  • Assist in the design of suitable IEC materials to educate and sensitize partners on the effects of Climate Change on ENRM through advocacy activities.
  • Participate in the selection of appropriate partners for Act!’s Climate Change interventions.
  • Support partners in the development of effective Climate Change projects and programmes.
  • Contribute towards program design, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Track all Climate Change resources within the broader ENRM programming to ensure that Act! is as responsive as possible to Climate Change concerns.
  • Be responsible for the support of all partners working on Climate Change.

    Financial Management

  • Contribute to the budgeting process for all proposals submitted within the ENRM platform on Climate Change.
  • Work closely with the Grants team in providing up to date reports on partners’ performance.

    Qualifications, Experience and Skills

    Academic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources / Environment related discipline.
  • A Master’s degree in Climate Change, Environment, Natural Resources Management
    or a related area of study will be an added advantage.

    Professional Qualifications
  • Professional training in Project Development Cycle or related fields.

    Relevant Experience
  • At least 5 years’ relevant work experience in the NGO environment with a demonstrable experience in climate policy and legislative programming, grant making, capacity development and M&E will be an added advantage.

    Essential Skills & Competencies
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills as well as excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Good interpersonal and oral communication skill.
  • Self-driven and able to deliver results with minimum supervision.
  • Willingness to travel extensively nationally, work extended periods in the field and interact effectively with partners and willingness to learn new approaches.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment and with partners at all levels.
  • Highly proficient in Ms Word, Excel, Access, Power-point and the use of Internet for research.
