ACDI/VOCAn Chief of Party, Senegal Vacancies in Uganda

Job Summary:

The Chief of Party will assume responsibility for overall program management ensuring achievement of objectives.
The Chief of Party will provide leadership, oversight, and support to all aspects of the program.
The Chief of Party will promote strong relationships with the USAID Mission, the host government, sub-recipient partners, private sector businesses and other donor and non-governmental organizations.
The Chief of Party is accountable for the rapid start-up, management and implementation of the program, and must provide overall strategic vision and leadership to achieve program goals and objectives.
This position is expected to be based in Dakar.

Responsibilities

Provide overall vision, leadership and guidance of the project’s implementation for project staff in Senegal, including liaising with partnering organizations and stakeholders.

Lead the vision and overall programmatic approach to Feed the Future targeted value chains and production of complimentary nutrition dense foods in Feed the Future zones of influence.

Provide an overall vision to work with households, farmers and private sector actors to forge market-based relationships promoting the production and consumption of nutrient dense foods.

Provide technical leadership in merging food production with nutritious food consumption patterns and stimulating related market demands for them.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or equivalent in agriculture, agribusiness, nutrition, marketing, economics, or related area.

Minimum of ten years of progressively increasing management responsibility in international development, preferably in West Africa.

At least five years’ experience managing Feed the Future programs in West Africa preferred.

Previous experience as a COP, Project Director, or similar senior management position for projects with similar magnitude and complexity in developing countries.

Experience with USAID programs and knowledge of USAID rules and regulations.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with host governments, donors, other donor-funded projects and stakeholders, local organizations, and partners.

Ability to travel within the country and internationally, as required.
Fluency in written and spoken English and French required.

ACDI/VOCA Agricultural Market Systems Specialist,
Vacancies in Uganda

Responsibilities

· Lead planning, review, implementation, and monitoring of agriculture and market systems interventions
· Develop support activities to refugee and host communities to enhance their agriculture productivity and availability of food to sustainably feed a growing number of people
· Guide market facilitation activities between farmers and retailers as appropriate
· Oversee the development of kitchen (key hole) gardens and access to seeds at the household level
· Enhance small holder production through training and capacity building for farmers
· Identify opportunities to enhance the integration of humanitarian response and development objectives

Qualifications

· Master's degree

in agricultural studies, economics, business administration or closely related field
· Minimum of eight years of work experience in related area, preferably in emergency and humanitarian response environments
· Demonstrated ability to successfully manage teams to carry out objectives of the program
· Demonstrated knowledge of market system facilitation and agriculture production
· Strong leadership, planning and capacity building skills
· Ability and experience developing partnership among other donor agencies and NGOs to align program activities to maximize impact
· Experience with conceptualizing agricultural field demonstration and facilitation of scaling up
· Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, ability to work efficiently and quickly under pressure
· Fluency in English required
· Regional experience East Africa preferred

ACDI/VOCA Communication Specialist, Vacancies in Uganda

Responsibilities

· Lead the design, development and implementation of the program’s communications strategy that utilizes various media including online platforms, a monitoring and evaluation portal for USAID, social media, and mobile apps, as appropriate
· Communicate project activities, success stories and results to USAID/Uganda, stakeholders and donor community thorough project newsletters and other outreach methods and tools
· Design and develop communication materials, and supervise the production
· Support the design and implementation knowledge and sharing platform within the team and across the aid community
· Advise to the Chief of Party on strategic communication approaches to highlight the success of the program
· Network and collaborate with other communications specialist within the region to enhance positive visibility of the project, the team, and ACDI/VOCA

Qualification

· Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, liberal arts, humanitarian affairs, international development, political science or related field required, advanced degree preferred

· A minimum of five years of relevant work experience, preferably in emergency and humanitarian response environments
· Superior writing, reporting, and oral communication skills (ability to provide an original writing sample required)
· Advanced graphic design (preferably Adobe InDesign) and web editing skill preferred
· Proficient in video editing desired
· Regional experience East Africa required
· Fluency in English required
