This award will be presented every three years at the FAIS meetings.
The award consists of a plaque plus a full paid trip to the FAIS meeting including registration fees, room and board, and stipend.
The award will be in memory of Dr. Mshana a dear brother and colleague who was an outstanding African immunologist, working in Africa and gave his life for Africa.
The award will be given only to African scientists, who have earned a Bachelors degree and is currently enrolled in either a Masters or a Ph.D. graduate program in an African Institution and doing their laboratory and/or field investigation in Africa on a disease that is endemic in Africa.
This individual must be born in Africa and intend to work in Africa upon completion of his/her studies.
Post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty members do not qualify.
This award is intended to enhance the training and capacity building of an African immunologist, something that was very dear to Dr. Mshana and something he would have cherished so much and would have advocated for were he alive today.
