National University Scholarship - International Scholarships: The National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), in Taiwan, has specifically set up an international scholarship program to reward those international students who follow the regulations of  foreign students applying to enter NCTU and enroll in the degree programs at NCTU.

The budget of this International Scholarship comes from the subsidy granted by the Ministry of Education and the fee allotted from the post-graduate scholarship offered by NCTU.

The fee allotted from the post-graduate scholarship can be granted only for those International students who enroll in the master or doctoral program.

NCTU grants 3 kinds of International Scholarships

For graduate students:

  • Fellowship: NTD20,000 per month and tuition waiver.
  • Teaching Assistantship: NTD13,000 per month and tuition waiver. The Office of International Affairs will help arranging teaching or administration work.

For undergraduate students:

  • Fellowship: NTD20,000 per month and tuition waiver.
  • International Scholarship: NTD7,000 per month and tuition waiver.

Tuition waiver:

  • The tuition waiver for undergraduate students includes the tuition and fees.
  • For graduate students, it includes the mandatory fees and the tuition below 1,590 per credit.
  • Recipients are not allowed to receive other kinds of scholarships provided by other governments.

Recipients may be granted the International Student Scholarship for 12 months annually.

This policy is applicable only to active students. An International student who plans to leave the school for one month or longer must obtain an approval from his/her advisor, or his/her scholarship will be cancelled.

National University Scholarship - International Scholarships Requirements

The applicants for the International Student Scholarship must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Fellowship for Graduate Students: Newly graduate recipients must have excellent academic achievements and research potential. Old graduate recipients must have taken at least 8 credits with an average grade of above 85 during the previous year and submit the application with thesis study reports for the review. Those who have completed their credit requirements may substitute it with thesis study reports.
  • Teaching Assistantship for Graduate Students: Newly graduate recipients must have good academic achievements. Old graduate recipients must have taken at least 8 credits with an average grade of above 75 during the previous year and submit the application with thesis study reports for the review.

  • Fellowship for Undergraduate Students: Newly undergraduate recipients must have excellent academic achievements and research potential. Old undergraduate recipients must have taken at least 9 credits with an average grade of above 85 during the previous year.
  • International Scholarship for Undergraduate Students: Newly undergraduate recipients must have good academic achievements. Old undergraduate recipients must have taken at least 9 credits with an average grade of above 70 during the previous year.
  • The conduct grade for each semester must be above 80.
  • The International Scholarship is ratified for one year each time and will be reviewed annually.

National University Scholarship - International Scholarships Application

Apply along with the degree programs. When filling out the admission application form, mark under the "NCTU Scholarship" box on the form to be considered.
Submit the application form together with other required documents for admission to the Division of International Admissions at NCTU.

Application deadline: December 31, March 31 & June 30 (Depends on course & start date)
