The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is open to receiving interns (ages 18-30) to work in its Geneva secretariat.
The Internship Program provides an international experience to young adults so that they may be better equipped to contribute to the life and work of the church from a global perspective.
The interns will work in the following areas:
Desk for Women in Church and Society (Department for Mission and Development)
The intern for the Desk for Women in Church and Society will assist in the programmatic work of the Desk in the area of gender. The work is going to focus on the preparation of the Women’s Preassembly. This will include programmatic and administrative work.
Office for Communication Services
The intern is going to assist the editors in identifying, researching and preparing for publication news stories from the French-speaking constituency of the LWF, especially African member churches. In addition, she/he is going to take over other journalistic tasks in the office. For this position, some experience with journalistic work and command of the French language is necessary.
The LWF covers costs for travel to and from Geneva and sufficient living expenses. In addition to the supervision by the responsible desk, the LWF Youth Desk facilitates additional learning experiences and time for personal reflection in close cooperation with the internship program of the World Council of Churches.
Successful candidates have a good working knowledge of English and have completed their basic professional training (college / university degree or a degree from a comparable institution). They understand themselves as Christians and participate actively in church life. They present a formal endorsement by a LWF member church.
For more information please see the Guidelines for the Youth Internship Program of the LWF.
Deadline: 5 October, 2008.
