Friedrich Miescher Institute PhD Scholarships, Basel Switzerland
Applications are invited for internally funded PhD student fellowships at the FMI in Basel, Switzerland.
The FMI is part of the Novartis Research Foundation. Our research focuses on epigenetics, growth control and neurobiology.
We employ state-of-the-art technologies to explore basis molecular mechanisms of cells and organisms in health and disease.
Current topics include:
Synaptic plasticity
Neuronal connectivity
Function of neuronal networks
Cell specification and differentiation
Cell cycle and cancer
Biology of aging
Signal transduction
DNA and RNA dynamics and function
Cell-cell and cell- matrix interactions
Epigenetic regulation and chromatin modification
Gene _expression and silencing
Proteomics and genomics
Protein structure
Proteolysis
Our international PhD programme has 100 graduate students from more than 25 countries. The working language is English
Most students are registered at the University of Basel. The successful candidate holds a Diploma (or M.Sc.) acceptable for matriculation at the University of Basel and has a strong background in cell and molecular biology.
Financial support is in accordance with the scale of the Swiss National Science Foundation. Your income will be generous relative to international standards for PhD students.
