ZOA Project Coordinator - WASH Jobs in Uganda;ZOA is an international NGO supporting people affected by armed conflict or natural disaster.

ZOA Uganda works in relief and recovery on food security & livelihoods, education and conflict management with a focus on land rights.

About the OCHA Project

From October 2026 to July 2027, ZOA will implement WASH activities as a consortium partner.

Funding will meet immediate life‑saving needs including water supply extension, rehabilitation of tanks and water points, desludging, latrine construction and emergency preparedness in flood‑prone areas.

Your Challenge

The Project Coordinator, with support from the Project Manager WASH, is responsible for day‑to‑day coordination of WASH activities under the OCHA funded humanitarian project.

Three positions are available, one coordinator based in each target location.

Key Responsibilities

General

Support needs assessments, project reviews and post‑project impact assessments.

Participate in preparation of proposals, CN, technical descriptions and budgets.

Produce detailed implementation plan for WASH component and update progress.

Ensure timely and professional implementation of WASH projects.

Ensure proper documentation of WASH activities and experiences.

Conduct monitoring and technical support visits.

Review activity, spending and procurement plans.

Coordinate activities to achieve outputs and outcomes in line with donor procedures.

Support capacity needs assessment with local partner organisations.

Reporting

Provide inputs to implementation plans and reports.

Identify and document lessons learned and best practices.

Prepare and submit success stories.

Collect monitoring data according to ZOA systems.

Represent ZOA in technical working groups and coordination meetings.

Coordinate with government, UNHCR, NGOs and consultants.

Human Resource Management

Ensure hygiene promoters have weekly and monthly targets.

Conduct regular meetings to achieve targets.

Provide coaching and mentorship to hygiene promoters.

Ensure procurement requests and finance approvals are timely.

Initiate purchase requisitions and ensure expenses align with budget.

Accountability

Sensitise stakeholders on feedback and complaint mechanisms.

Document complaints and feedback correctly.

Ensure adherence to ZOA’s Code of Conduct

and safeguarding policies.

Your Profile

Identity

Candidate must fully support ZOA’s vision, mission and Christian values.

Knowledge & Experience

University degree in Hydraulic Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, Environmental/Public Health or related.

4+ years’ WASH experience, preferably humanitarian.

Experience in localisation approaches and working with local organisations.

Good command of English and reporting skills.

Experience with Persons with Disabilities is a plus.

Refugee settlement experience advantageous.

OCHA/emergency project experience desirable.

Skills

High networking capacities.

Experience with data analysis software (ArcGIS, SPSS) is an asset.

Experience with engineering software (Watercad, Epanet, AutoCAD).

Knowledge of hydraulic design for domestic water supply.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to bridge differences and unite diverse groups.

Motivated to work independently.

Strong computer skills (Excel, Word).

Ability to ride motorcycle with valid license is a MUST.

Special Conditions

Full‑time role (40 hrs/week) with flexibility as needed.
