About the Role

  • You’ll be the main go-to for our Advocacy Associates in-country, whom you will meet at least on a bi-weekly basis, and work closely with the EEDA Project Director to make sure advocacy is tracking along nicely and IYAFP youth advocates feel supported, witnessed, and empowered.

  • You’ll be on the frontlines for delivering on Nigeria and Uganda advocacy work plans, and lead narrative progress reporting, finance and budget tracking for 4 advocacy teams, and be the main spokesperson for making sure the interests and technical support needs of our in-country advocates are represented, documented, and addressed in a timely manner, with the support of EEDA project and IYAFP management!

    Specific Tasks

    ● Oversee management of approximately eight Advocacy Associates and advocacy team members in Nigeria and Uganda, as well as progress towards successful completion of two advocacy objectives in each country

    ● Manage financial documentation of advocacy activities in Nigeria and Uganda, including oversight and ownership of total advocacy budget for 4 advocacy teams

    ● Continue ongoing training, capacity-building and technical assistance to advocacy associates via IYAFP and partner content curation and repurposing

    ● Meet with Advocacy Associates on a bi-weekly/weekly basis at least to ensure proper compliance to the IYAFP Code of Conduct and progress with advocacy work plans

    ● Meet on a weekly basis with the EEDA-IYAFP Project Director to report out on EEDA advocacy progress in Nigeria and Uganda

    ● Liaise with Director of Country Coordinators and IYAFP Executive Director as appropriate about EEDA project activities

    ● Along with Project Director, potentially liaise with partner organization staff at least on a bi-weekly basis to ensure smooth management of EEDA project activities

    ● Lead in compiling and reporting advocacy objective results from Nigeria and Uganda on a bi-weekly basis, including substantive narrative reporting for end-of-year reporting

    Qualifications

    EEDA Country Manager

    ● Undergraduate/college degree required

    ● At least 2 years of experience leading and managing a team

    ● Strong communication and writing skills

    ● Demonstrated experience working with youth and family planning in diverse settings, including the facilitation of trainings and/or activities with youth

    ● Experience in budget development, tracking and oversight

    ● Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Quickbooks or
    comparable accounting software knowledge is also appreciated but not required

    ● A portfolio of work in family planning/gender justice/SRHR/international development issues that includes project design and management

    ● Demonstrated experience designing and implementing advocacy implementation and monitoring programming

    ● Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, and be able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail

    ● Demonstrated passion for family planning and sexual and reproductive health and rights

    ● Strong advocacy work fundamentals and foundation in family planning

    ● Demonstrable commitment to high-integrity, intersectional, and non-tokenistic advocacy and/or youth work
