Sparked by evidence exclusion of youth in spheres of life and fuelled by a passion for the ‘total’ youth. Youth Agenda’s mission is to make the youth factor count by influencing,linking and enhancing youth access to social, economic,cultural and political opportunities.

Job Summary

Youth Agenda is looking for a Programme Assistant –who is expected to provide programmatic
and logistical support in the formulation, implementation and reporting of YAA programme
interventions in a professional and effective manner

Under the overall supervision of the Programme Officer and working closely with the Monitoring
and Communication Officer,the Programme Assistant will have the following main duties

  • Assist in designing, planning and implementing programme activities assigned by the Programme Officer;
  • Responsible for coordinating, mobilising participants and maintaining smooth flow of communication and information within the secretariat and the constituency contact persons;
  • Generate activity reports and analyse data;
  • Understand and interpret the wider objectives, strategies and plans of the YAA and initiate and
    communicate to the outside world;
  • Researching and identifying funding opportunities for project scale up.
  • In collaboration with the Communication and Programme Officer manage internal and external communication through various media such as newsletters, sms,online discussions,brochures, info packs, banners,press releases and statements;
  • In consultation with the Programme Officer assist in collecting data and any relevant
    information for the Programme Officer;
  • Operationalise a knowledge management system in liaison with the Programmes and Management
    Team;

    Personal Specification

  • Candidates must have in their possession a University degree in the any of the following
    disciplines: Sociology, Community Development, Law, Sociology,Political Science,Strategic Management or related field;
  • Fluent written and spoken English are required.
  • Personal initiative; ability to work both independently and in a team, with ability to set
    priorities,and to work to tight deadlines;
  • Commitment, determination, reliability and a high degree of personal integrity &discretion;
  • Ability to analyse and process information
  • Research and Communication skills
  • Ability to clearly and concisely convey information to others.
  • A minimum of 1-year experience working in project and results based management
  • Candidates must be below 35 years of age
