  • The Communication Manager/Specialist will be the lead on the development and implementation of all YAG’s communication and outreach/advocacy strategies and plans, manage the organization’s media relations including its online presence as well as facilitate knowledge building and sharing.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    Specifically, the Communications Manager is responsible for:

  • Acting as the lead in strategy planning, development and implementation of YAG’s communications campaigns, including media strategies, in coordination with all relevant staff/departments in the organization;

  • Increasing the visibility of YAG among its targeted constituencies, donors and partners by raising awareness and understanding of YAG’s missions and strategic objectives and, especially, increase recognition of its impact and contributions;

  • Developing and producing communication and advocacy instruments and materials, including briefing materials, press releases, articles, brochures, factsheets, stories , annual reports and coordinate its dissemination through effective channels;

  • Serving as the point of contact to media organisations, governmental bodies, national groups, private sector organisations, educational organisations, international organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and any other relevant stakeholders.

  • Organising media coverage and arranging for media contacts, briefings, interviews and public events on major issues and events concerning YAG’s mandate.

  • Evaluating results and impact of communications activities and reports on developments, trends and attitudes regarding YAG to identify potential reputational risk issues

  • Overseeing and maintaining YAG’s websites and social media accounts, including developing design and content in line with the organisation’s communication strategy.

  • Provide training, workshops and advisory support on communication and advocacy as appropriate for YAG’s staff and other intended audiences

  • Identifying
    sources and seeks funding and other partnerships for major communications campaigns.

  • Performs other duties as requested.

    Terms and Conditions:

    ● The position is voluntary. YAG cannot pay salaries or other allowances as part of this assignment.

    ● The applicant is responsible for his/her travel to and from Ghana.YAG can however send an invitation letter and other supporting documents to secure visa.

    ● YAG is not responsible for living expenses, necessary visas and related costs.YAG will provide information on estimated cost of living etc

    ● Certificate of service and recommendation letter will be issued to the applicant at the end of the service.

    ● The intern through our works will be exposed to local and regional networks around his/her interest to broaden understanding and experience.

    ● YAG staff and volunteers are always available and happy to support the intern around local realities for easy integration into our field of work and community safely.
